Glass House — LAST PARKING LOT SALE Oct. 24-26

Let me state first, WE ARE NOT CLOSING THE STORE.
Now, for a short story.
At one time way back in October 1996 (or so), a couple of young kids decided to gather a bunch of Glass, Bevels, and other Assorted Treasures, and put them on sale at ridiculous prices. We called a Huge Sale. Then we invited all of our good glass friends over for what we called “Moonlight Madness” just to see what would happen (and if anyone would show up?)
Well, show up they did! And that turned into a once each year indoor sale, and then into a twice a year indoor sale. Then at some point in time we decided that it wouldn’t fit inside anymore and the Parking Lot Sale was born. Of course this involved Steve hauling all of the glass crates out each morning and back inside again each day one at a time with a hand truck. Oh, and don’t forget Mother Nature. The Good Lord blessed us with many wonderful days, but there were a few challenging ones too. We have had rain, almost snow, heat, and three days of blustery wind. (And we can’t forget the cicada year.) Also, along came the internet and the ability to spread the announcement of the sale far and wide allowing it to grow beyond our wildest expectations. No longer was the humble little shop we call “The Glass House” able to hold the sale alone. So, we decided to expand into two other buildings thanks to our neighbor’s generosity. Now we really did have a “Huge Sale.” We have had wonderful people come from all over the country (and a few from other countries too) come to visit us to share their passion for glass.
But the passing of 30 years has brought us some other challenges. Some of the basic crew have gotten older, (and some of us haven’t). Bargain glass (and other bargain stuff) is getting exceedingly difficult to find. Locating a building to host the sale is whole other matter.
So, rather than running the risk of disappointing our loyal and fantastic customers with a lackluster event, we have decided to have one last “Huge Sale” putting as much glass, and other stuff out there as we can muster and find room for. Our way of saying “Thanks” to all of you.
Oh, in case you missed it, WE ARE NOT CLOSING THE STORE.
We just aren’t going to abuse a great bunch of people, who have helped us out through the years, anymore. Our “Thanks” go out to all of them too!
