✨Meet the Dancer✨
Shaylee is 17 years old and will be a Senior this fall. She has been dancing for 14 years and will perform the roles of The Fall Fairy and Peacock in this year’s production. Her previous roles include Sugar Plum in the 2025 Nutcracker, and Wicked Witch in Emerald City. What draws Shaylee most to ballet is the movement itself. She loves the control and strength that come with dancing, especially the exhilaration of performing big jumps both on stage and in the studio. She would also like to give a special shoutout to her friends at the studio, Mrs. Karen for her years of guidance and teaching, and her mother and brother, Jake, for always being her biggest supporters.
Jocelyn is 16 years old and a Junior at Decatur High School this fall. She has been dancing for 13 years at WBMA. This year, she will perform the roles of The Winter Fairy, Jester, and a Lead Mouse. Her previous roles include Mayor of Munchkinville and Lead Flying Monkey in Emerald City and The Rat Queen and Spanish Entertainer in 2025 Nutcracker. Jocelyn loves dancing because it gives her a sense of freedom and purpose that she cannot find anywhere else. What continues to inspire her is the support of her family and friends, both in the audience and throughout her journey. She also credits Karen and Jessica for encouraging and motivating her throughout all of these years.
Remi is 15 years old and will be going into her Sophomore year as a homeschooler this fall. Remi brings 12 years of dance experience to the stage, 8 of those being here at WBMA. In this year’s production of Cinderella she will be the Summer Fairy and a Jester. Some of her favorite previous roles include Clara in our 2025 Nutcracker, Toto in Emerald City, Young Snow White, and Chinese Entertainer in our 2023 Nutcracker. Remi loves being involved in both theater and ballet. She says she loves her WBMA family and has Karen to thank from the bottom of her heart for the time and knowledge she has poured into her.
