In the 9th century's remote highlands of Ethiopia, legend says that after watching his goat herd eat a new red fruit and then begin to dance, Kaldi, a lone goat herder, was intrigued. He tried the fruit himself and discovered his own energy boast. Coffee and its wonders were discovered. Dancing Goats® was founded in 1988 with the goal of bringing the best coffee to our community. With that goal ever-present, Dancing Goats® expanded from just a single coffee shop to a full coffeehouse and wholesale roaster co-headquartered in Atlanta, GA, and Olympia, WA. with many satisfied online customers in between. Because our coffee is so tasty, coffee shops all over the world serve Dancing Goats® to their very happy customers. Dancing Goats® Coffee Bar Decatur offers delicious coffee in a comfortable setting. We have close seating for intimate conversation among friends and large community tables available for group meetings. Our dog-friendly patio allows plenty of seating for the whole family, including those darling members with fur. Only three blocks from the heart of Decatur Square, we are an easy place to find for a meetup. The prime location means our customers can also walk or bike to our coffee bar to enjoy their favorite drip coffee or specialty beverage. We’ve been in this lovely space at 419 W. Ponce de Leon Ave, Decatur for almost 20 years!

And we’re not going anywhere BUT we are closing temporarily for approximately 2 weeks while we make some much needed updates.

Starting this Monday, October 19th, our Decatur cafe will be closed temporarily for construction BUT WE’RE STILL POURING!

Join us out on our patio for pop-up coffee service Monday through Sunday 8AM - 3PM.

We’ll be serving a limited menu of coffee & pastries. 🥐 ☕️ 🐐

You’ll see some fresh paint, wallpaper and new furniture - but we’re also refinishing some of our well-loved older wooden furniture pieces to give them new life.

Look for some fun pops of color, cozy couches and a new floor treatment! Ours is pretty much worn out!

We’ll also be making some subtle updates behind the bar and in the pastry case area to make everything more shoppable.

After it’s all complete, we can’t wait to open the doors, make you some coffee and show you around. 🩵🐐

Our Green Coffee Buyer, Bob, recently spent a week in Atlanta helping an old friend settle into its new home: the very roaster he spent 20 years working on.

“There’s a lot of nostalgia with this one. This is the same roaster I spent 20 years working on, and now it’s getting a new chapter here in Atlanta.

It’ll be a little while before we fire it up, but the new production space is taking shape, and we’re excited to share a glimpse of what’s ahead.

Once again, we’re so thrilled to have played a small part in the race to cure MS. 🚲🚲🚲🐐☕️

For the third year, we served coffee at the Georgia Peach Ride in beautiful LaGrange, GA, benefiting Bike MS.

This year, we raised funds, created a signature drink and custom sticker, donated coffee and pastries as a team prize, and got up at the crack of dawn to keep volunteers and riders caffeinated and fueled for an incredible cause.

We’re always grateful for the opportunity to use what we do best - coffee, hospitality, and community - to upport something much bigger than ourselves.

Thank you to everyone who rode, volunteered, donated, and showed up. Here’s to getting closer to a world free of MS, one mile (and one cup of coffee) at a time. 🚲☕️🧡

Starting with picking the finest ripe cherries to ensuring that only beans of the perfect size and shape are selected, only the top quality beans achieve the "La Minita" standard.

We had such a wonderful time celebrating our 1 Year Anniversary with our friends at ✨ATL FRIENDS✨ at our beautiful Buckhead café this past Thursday! 🥂☕️

We served espresso martinis and matcha lattes, enjoyed charcuterie, and our pastry chef Jonathan St. Hilaire of Mission Bakery dropped off some seriously amazing pastries.

8 events in, with so many more fun ones to come—including more Mats & Matcha and a Friendsgiving party—we’re just getting started.

A huge thank you to EVERYONE who has attended, taught, volunteered, shared their talents, and helped make these gatherings so special. It’s always such a good, positive time—and a reminder that meeting new people and building community can start with something as simple as coffee and a little kindness. ♥️
