The red pandas’ birthday was Tuesday & Wednesday of this week! Happy 3rd birthday Everest & Zin! 💕

Our next Twilight Tuesday is next week on June 30 from 5-7pm! It's only $5 admission AND the Decatur Area Ukulele Group (DAUG) will be playing! If you bring your own ukulele you will receive free admission, and can join in on the fun! All levels are welcome. Guests can listen or sing – a – long! 🐺🌙🐒

(We will be open until 8pm, with last admission sold by 7pm)

Happy World Camel Day! 🐫 🐫

Finnegan & Anakin enjoyed some browse to celebrate the day!

Bactrian Camels are native to Central and East Asia and are well adapted to a wide range of extreme temperatures (-30°F - 110°F!). Anakin has lost his winter coat and is ready for the warmer temps ahead, but Finnegan still needs to do some shedding!

Good morning. We are experiencing technical issues with our computer and phone systems. Despite this, the zoo will open at 9:30. Due to the current limitations, we can only process cash transactions. Admission to the zoo is free of charge today.

Today is World Ocean Day!

The Humboldt penguin is officially listed as “Threatened” by the IUCN, but its conservation status in Chile was recently changed to “Endangered” due to threats like climate change causing severe food shortages, avian influenza, overfishing, getting caught and perishing in fishing nets, and habitat destruction of their nesting sites.

What can we do?
🌊 Keep the oceans cleaner for penguins and all wildlife!
🌊Reduce pollution - use fewer single-use plastics
🌊 Cut down on pesticides
🌊 Use the Seafood Watch tool to make sustainable seafood choices at the grocery store.
