Thrive Theater Group

Thrive Theater Group A Theater Program for the Decatur Homeschool Community. Actors can expect to grow in confidence and skill while also building teamwork and having fun.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT:

The mission of Thrive Theater Group is to create a space where kids come alive to the wonder of storytelling as they experience the thrill of the stage. Our company of actors come from the Decatur homeschooling community, supported by friends and family who want to see them truly thrive. As we are all made in the image of God, the master storyteller, we seek to honor Him i

n all we do. WHO WE SERVE? At the heart of Thrive is the vibrant Decatur homeschooling community. We look at Thrive as another way for kids within this community to connect, learn, and grow. To that end, we are looking for participants who are homeschooled and live in Decatur or are heavily involved in the Decatur homeschooling community. Contact us via email or FB messenger if you have any questions about your involvement. WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO? There is nothing more thrilling than watching children THRIVE. Seeing them learn new skills, grow in confidence, and find joy in the process is our greatest motivation. We wanted to bring the performing arts to our amazing Decatur homeschool community in a personal way. In much the same way that schools each have their own "school plays," Thrive Theater Group brings together the Decatur homeschoolers to produce a production they can own and be proud of.

Thrive Theater Group’s 4th season is well underway! This week we held auditions for Fiddler on the Roof, and casting for our fall production is officially complete. Based on the talent, courage, and heart we saw during auditions, we can already tell it will be an incredible show!

To the 60+ kids who auditioned: thank you. Your talent and courage continually inspires us. The casting process was both joyful and challenging— each of you brought something special to the stage, and you never cease to amaze us with your growth and enthusiasm.

We look forward to bringing this rich story of family, faith, and tradition to the stage with this talented cast. Join us October 9-11th for Fiddler on the Roof!

UPDATE: We are closing applications as we have filled our remaining spots. Thank you!

In February, we posted about our new structure regarding membership, which reflects concepts seen within homeschool co-ops. This model aligns best with our community goals and recognizes that we rely and thrive on the faithful and generous contributions of our parents and families.

Our 2025 participating families have had a chance to officially claim their spots for the new year, and we have had an amazing response! Most slots are filled at this time. HOWEVER, we love the idea of welcoming new faces and talent, and feel we have the capacity to open up a VERY LIMITED amount of spaces for applicants AGES 13-18. We will be looking at minimal spots for both the TEEN GIRLS demographic as well as TEEN BOYS. Please promptly fill out the application form if you hope to secure a spot.

Please note that filling out the form may not necessarily ensure your spot, but we will email to let you know with 24 hours if spots were still available when you signed up. While we would love to welcome so many more, we strive to keep our participants at a number that still provides a quality experience for each performer both onstage and off.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for your interest and support! We wish you all the best!

We are so excited to announce our 2026 production… FIDDLER ON THE ROOF! As our young performers grow, we're excited to take on this inspiring show, and to tell one of theatre's most beloved stories about family, tradition, and community!

Filled with moments of great joy and also life’s sorrows, this show gives Thrive an opportunity to tell a deeper story of growth, resiliency, and faith. Thrive kids will enjoy singing classic songs like “Tradition, “Matchmaker” and “If I Were a Rich Man,” while exploring different cultural dances, delivering comical moments, and tapping into deeper storylines that challenge their acting in a new way.

Fiddler on the Roof is the perfect show to demonstrate the capability and ambition that we see in our Thrive kids. We hope you’ll join us at the Civic Center this October. It’s sure to be an unforgettable show!

Thrive has been growing in size and production scope over the past three years since its inception. We have explored landscapes and achieved goals we never expected. On top of that we have learned the importance of our Thrive community, something we couldn’t anticipate at the start.

Of course, seeing our Thrive participants forging friendships, growing in confidence, and finding belonging has always been our aim. But we have also loved seeing parents and families connect and feel “at home” in our space. Along with that, so many parents have invested their time and talents into the success of Thrive. Their presence and participation confirm that community and connection are at the heart of what we do.

For this reason, we are structuring Thrive participation to reflect concepts seen in various homeschool co-ops throughout Decatur. Each year, our previous participants or members have the opportunity to make a decision to participate in the new season or not. After our Thrive families have signed up, we will evaluate what space we have in our program to include new participants.

While we love the idea of embracing new members and seeing new talent emerge, we also have to cap the amount of children in the program in order to maintain the quality experience we want to provide for our participants, as one of our number one goals is to make sure each child is seen both on stage and in their experience at practices. While we do not anticipate spaces opening up this year, based on the support and interest within our Thrive families, we will announce if there are openings for the public by April.

As always, we appreciate the support of our wider community! Your donations, interest, encouragement, and audience attendance means the world to us! Thank you!
