AILA: Trump Administration Proposes Astronomical H‑1B Fees, Undermining U.S. Innovation
Today, USCIS proposed a new $103,265 fee for H-1B cap-subject petitions, including those eligible for the advanced-degree exemption, to help fund immigration system costs across multiple federal agencies. In a press release, AILA President Jeff Joseph warned that the proposed fee “would shut out employers that use H‑1Bs to fill job openings for essential staff like teachers, researchers, rural doctors, and clergy,” while AILA Executive Director Benjamin Johnson noted that it would “signal to the world that the United States is closing its doors to scientists, doctors, engineers, and entrepreneurs.” AILA urged the Administration to “strengthen America’s prosperity by investing in common‑sense solutions.” Learn more about AILA’s Principles for America’s Future and its recommendations for strengthening the U.S. immigration system.
