SHOW & PROVE

The overall mission of the DJK AA GOTA is to exhibit works by artists of African descent who view, explore and celebrate the African American experience, and the diverse dimensions of the people and culture. Through various visual arts media including electronic/digital formats, several of the critical narratives included in the exhibitions themes focus on Black consciousness, authenticity, and integrity.

The visionary behind the Gallery, Ms. Kapilango saw the need to create an arts space for the African American arts community that remains underrepresented in the Dearborn, Michigan area. As a graphic designer, museum educator and transpreneur, she is committed to bringing a diverse array of artists who are students, as well as emerging and established artists, to exhibit and present their original narratives and perspectives.

In addition to poignant exhibitions, the DJK AA GOTA is planning a stellar series of educational programs that will focus on youth programs, the business of art for artists, the role of collectors, and panel discussions centered around social justice issues.
