Calling Louisiana students, K-12

Help us celebrate Louisiana agriculture through student artwork! Students in kindergarten through 12th grade at Louisiana public and private schools are invited to create artwork for the 2027 Louisiana Farm to School Calendar. This year’s theme is “Louisiana Agriculture,” and artwork must feature agricultural products grown or raised in Louisiana. Twelve student artists, along with a Best of Show winner and honorable mentions, will be selected. Submissions are due Oct. 28.

Two of our gallery members went to the Artist's Reception for an exhibit of art by well known regional artist Bill Iles at the NUNU Art & Culture Collective at Arnaudville. This exhibit will be there until November 2nd.

RealArt DeRidder has been following the conversation about the mural recently painted in Serenity Park. We understand that public art can spark strong opinions, especially in a community with so many people who care deeply about the arts.

We want to clarify that the opinions of individuals do not represent the opinion of RealArt DeRidder Arts Cooperative.

As an organization, we’re always happy to see the City's beautification efforts. We appreciate art in all its forms and are thankful for the investments that help make our city a more vibrant and welcoming place.

Looking ahead, we would love the opportunity to collaborate with the City of DeRidder on future public art and beautification efforts. We are grateful to live in a community that cares about art, and we look forward to continuing to build this community together.

John Lewton’s sculpture class at RAD on Saturday was awesome! So talented. We created horse heads out of water based clay. If you missed it, he will be back in the Spring!
