Our Story
Mark Soenksen is an artist from De Witt, Iowa.
The second youngest of five children, Mark was the only one of his siblings to draw on the walls . . . thus igniting his interest in art. He grew up with a love of comic books, superheroes, and science fiction. Mark took art all through school and attended Iowa State University, attaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Painting/Drawing/Printmaking.
After college he focused mainly on acrylic paintings of landscapes and figures. Oddly, approaching each with totally different styles. Landscapes were done with a heavy application of paint, whereas figures got a watered down and layered technique.
This watered down technique has becomes Mark’s preferred approach. he has since moved on from landscapes to florals, and has retained his love of figurative subject matter.
