1st Plein Air Along the Fox River Invitational September 1-19, 2026
This event celebrates art created by painting & sketching outside along the Fox River. This inaugural visual art event will focus on plein-air painting and drawing within 3-5 blocks of the Fox River as it flows through Green Bay, Allouez, Ashwaubenon, and De Pere.
Plein-air artists will paint or sketch along the Fox River for 12 days, September 1-12, for the public to watch. There will be two exhibit spaces to show a selection of at least 5 works by each Registered artist, created sometime during the 12 painting days. The exhibits will be at The Art Garage Studio B in Green Bay and The Art Studio De Pere, September 11-19 with hours 10-5 each of those days.

Breakdown of September 1-19, 2026 Event dates
--September 1-11: Artists complete at least 4 works in this 11-day time block. Full map, work date-stamping, and info will be emailed to registered artists. The calendar of site dates will be included in the public-facing materials. The artist must create at least 4 works between September 1 and 11. All artists must have the back of their canvas, panel, or paper date-stamped before painting or sketching. Artists can create more works, and may set up their painting or sketching spot anywhere along the Fox River and work at any time during these dates. Artists will bring their work to The Art Garage or THE ART STUDIO as works are completed, to facilitate the installation of artworks.
September 11 ART NITE will be the soft opening for Plein Air Along the Fox River.
--September 12 daytime: Quick Paint in De Pere, required for all registered artists, and they will create at least one work in De Pere for the De Pere Quick Paint/Sketch.
--September 12 evening: Gala/Awards openings at The Art Garage & THE ART STUDIO, 5-8 pm. All registered artists exhibit at The Art Garage in Green Bay or The Art Studio in De Pere from September 11 to 19. There will be $1,800 in Awards given.
September 13-19: Exhibitions at The Art Garage and THE ART STUDIO —staffed 10 am to 5 pm each day at both locations. No commission is taken on sales, and all sales are between the buyer and the artist.
