CONNECTICUT VALLEY BREWING COMPANY
TROPICAL STATE OF MIND, PINEAPPLE ALE SOUR
5.5% ABV

How to drink it: Serve cold. Very drinkable, but you better like Pineapple.
The author had two cans, just to double check his first instinct.
Pour in a tulip glass. Or over ice. Or mix with a splash of club soda.

Adventurous drinkers, drop a few fresh berries, or a scoop of vanilla water ice, or vanilla ice cream, which can dampen the Pineapple a bit if you find it overpowering.

The Brewery: They also brew Peach, Blueberry, Cranberry, and Strawberry variations of their fruited sour ale. They host car cruise nights, motorcycle nights, cars-and-coffee Sunday mornings. They won a label art award where they honored the CT state
animal- the S***m Whale.

The area (Connecticut)- cool inventions like hamburgers, color TV, frisbee, silly putty, PEZ candy. But they do have their own way of speaking.

Delco to Connecticut translator:
“Milkshake” = “Frappe” (pronounced “Frap”), they make them really thick up there
“Hoagie” = “Grinder”, they toast the whole thing up there
“State Store” = “Packie”, where they buy their booze up there
“Cheesesteak” = Please. Not even close.

Drink it with: Other fruit beers, fruit cocktails or lighter wine for a sampling session of warm weather drinks.

Start the summer (June 21 st - close enough) with one of these and enjoy it straight or with the toppings and mixer ideas we suggested.

Chocolate Cinnamon Crunch Breakfast Stout”
Know “a friend” who puts a little something in their chocolate cereal the morning after?...That “friend” would like this one.

How to serve and drink it:

Swirl gently to get some edible glitter to appear. Sip it. Not for slamming or fast
drinking. Unless you want more than glitter to shoot from your body.
Keep the can ice cold before pouring. After you start drinking, and the chill comes off, the chocolate flavor gets stronger.

Do NOT drink this one if:

You don’t like Chocolate, Cinnamon, thick beers, high abv beers, sweet tastes, sugar cereal flavor, glitter, stouts, or pastry stouts

Please DO drink this one if:

You want to relax, crack open an 8.5% ABV tasty chocolate treat (and crack some fart jokes)

You consider Valentines Day, Halloween, and Easter as “food groups.”

The Brewery:
River Horse Brewing acquired Duclaw in 2023 and they now work
together.

Gotta love the founders (left the family Electrical contracting business to brew) motto, “Craft be Cherished. Rules be damned”

They also brew: “Sweet Baby Jesus” their tasty well known Peanut Butter Porter, delicious served alone or mixed with raspberry beers to make “PB& J” cocktails.
