Dive into the fascinating world of birds with an engaging educational event, “What is Ornithology? Bird Science,” at the Breakers Environmental Learning Center, 13 S. Ocean Ave. Join us Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 10 a.m. for a morning filled with hands-on activities that bring the science of birds to life with The Marine Science Center. This family-friendly event includes opportunities to:

• Meet a live raptor and learn about these majestic birds of prey.
• Master the use of binoculars for birdwatching.
• Participate in the "Birds of a Feather Stick Together" activity.
• Create a bird anatomy craft and explore avian biology.

Daytona Beach Gymnastics is hosting a summer specialty camp from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 24-27 at Schnebly Recreation Center, 1101 N. Since 2010, Lubna Nisa has been part of the city’s Parks & Recreation department. Lubna’s responsibilities include record keeping, reservations of small events at community centers and parks, registration of department programs and camps and transcription of Parks & Recreation Advisory Board meetings. She is in the process of transitioning all Parks & Rec’s activity registrations and facility rental reservations online, which can be found at www.CODB.us/Activities. Looking forward to utilizing all the skills she has gained over the years, Lubna aims to develop and grow in the department.
