We are delighted to bring together four artists whose practices explore material, process, memory, place, and the evolving role of contemporary art in our communities. Two of the artists, Erin Holscher Almazan and Denise Geier are currently in the gallery in the exhibition, Pressed & Painted, A Floral Study. Jeremy Long and Hannah Kasper will be contributing in the conversation as panelists through their experiences and thoughtful insights. Moderated by Rodney Veal, this conversation offers an opportunity to hear directly from the artists about their creative journeys, inspirations, and the ideas that shape their work.

This exhibition brings together two distinct artistic approaches to the enduring subject of florals. Through processes of preservation and interpretation, Almazan and Geier explore the delicate balance between nature’s fleeting beauty and its lasting impression. This exhibition brings a compelling focus to the language of printmaking alongside painterly exploration. Each artist invites viewers to reconsider the ways we observe, remember, and reimagine the natural world.

Pressed and Painted is both a celebration of botanical forms and a meditation on time, transformation, and attention. We welcome you to experience this thoughtful dialogue between artists and mediums, and to immerse yourself in a study of florals that is at once familiar and newly revealed.

The dance performance in the Dana L. Wiley Gallery transforms the traditional viewing space into a living, breathing work of art. Set within the exhibition Pressed & Painted: A Floral Study, featuring printmaker Erin Holscher Almazan and painter Denise Geier, the piece explores the relationship between movement, space, and visual form.
Featuring dancers Teresa VanDenend Sorge, Megan Flynn, and Rose Sunila, the performance unfolds among contemporary floral-inspired works. The dancers move fluidly through the gallery, responding intuitively to both the artwork and the architecture, blurring the boundaries between performer and exhibit.

Through a blend of improvisation and structured choreography, the performers create an evolving dialogue with one another and the surrounding environment. Their presence invites the audience to engage from multiple perspectives, encouraging movement, observation, and immersion within the gallery space. Themes of connection, transformation, and presence emerge as the dancers interact with the exhibition and viewers alike, shaping a dynamic, shared experience in real time.
