Looking for weekend plans? We’ve got a LOT to see at the DAI! 👀

All of our special and focus exhibitions are open, plus there’s plenty of fresh and newly moved artwork to check out throughout the galleries.

One more thing! This is your LAST weekend to see “The Max May Memorial Holocaust Art Exhibition” and “Getting Technical: Alternative Photographic Processes” before they close October 25. So grab your friends, bring the family and come spend some time with us. We’ll see you this weekend!

Some of our staff have spooky stories about the museum … but is it really a ghost or just the old building? You’ll have to join us and see for yourself!

Our second-to-last Spooky Tour of the year is happening Saturday, October 24, from 1–2:30 PM. Your ticket includes a guided tour and a spooky make-and-take art activity to keep the conversation going afterward.

Join us this Thursday from 6–6:30PM for a Gallery Talk with Curators Mariah Postlewait and Peter Doebler exploring “Looking for Japan: Early Japanese Photography”. What better way to get into the Halloween spirit than with a little spooky music? 🎃

Join us Sunday, October 25, at 2 PM for Spooktacular, a special Skinner Pipe Organ Concert featuring eerie melodies and classic silent horror films, all accompanied by the haunting sounds of our beautifully restored pipe organ!

Enjoy a one-hour performance by Matt Dierking, Priscilla Acuff, Yun Kim and Lynn Mishler in the Mimi and Stuart Rose Auditorium. We hope to see you there!

Now on view: “Power of Remembrance: AIDS Memorial Quilt Panels”

The DAI is proud to present six, 12ft x 12ft, panels on loan from the National AIDS Memorial, a complement to our Special Exhibition, “Wall Power! Spectacular Quilts from the American Folk Art Museum”.

What began as a way to remember loved ones lost to AIDS-related illnesses has grown into a powerful tribute to the lives, stories and communities behind the Quilt. Through the tradition of quilting, each panel offers a personal remembrance, bringing people together through shared experiences of love and loss.

Experience this moving exhibition through January 3, 2027.

Now On View: “Wall Power! Spectacular Quilts from the American Folk Art Museum”

Quilts are so much more than fabric and thread. With bold patterns, striking colors and incredible attention to detail, they’re works of art that tell stories about life, creativity and tradition. This special exhibition brings together quilts from the mid-19th to late 20th century, highlighting the artistry of makers from across the country, alongside selections from the DAI’s own textile collection.

Come see these remarkable works for yourself! “Wall Power!” is on view through January 10, 2027.
