In this third webinar, NCA discusses the labor in our visual practices and the artists who have produced works that focus on Black labor. These works and what we do as artists have been instrumental in providing insight, shaping the lives, culture, and histories of Black people and the societies in which we live.

Join the National Conference of Artists (NCA) for the first in a series of one day national arts symposiums. On October 19th we will unveil our five-year national initiative of events and activities. Our theme: African Roots/American Fruits: 1526 - 2026

NCA is celebrating 65 years as an African American visual arts organization. The mission of NCA is to preserve, promote and enhance an African American conception of cultural reality through the visual arts and to foster the creative forces of the artists that spring from the experiences of the descendants of the African Diaspora.

As NCA begins to celebrate its 65th Anniversary, we would also like to celebrate the 25th anniversary of our sister organization
the National Alliance of Artists from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (NAAHBCU). They will be hosting a conference celebration in Atlanta, GA where they originated like NCA, twenty-five years ago. NCA National provided support for the guest speaker Halima Taha.

Our cover image is a work by Jon Onye Lockard. Jon was a spectacular artist and a dedicated NCA member, Board member, mentor to many artists and a wonderful and passionate arts educator. We celebrate him and many of our NCA ancestors during our 65th Anniversary year. You can find a host of information on the web that validates his importance to the canon of visual arts and the African Diaspora.

We hope that you will engage with us as we post information, images, announcements and other information about the organization, chapters, members and our history. NCA is 65 years old this year and we have things planned to celebrate. The oldest arts organization dedicated to preserve, promote and enhance an African American conception of cultural reality through the visual arts and to foster the creative forces of artists that spring from the experiences of the descendants of the African Diaspora.
