PICTURING TOMORROW:

PHOTOGRAPHER, DEBORA HURST
"Pienza’s Environmental Future"
This beautiful street scene in
Pienza, Italy reminded me of the aftermath of a cataclysmic or an
extinction event like you would see in old Hollywood movies.
Could biodiversity destruction happen to cities like Pienza
because of many responsible people’s total disregard of what we
are doing to Earth and its People for the sake of profit and power?

"White Peach"
The last beautiful big juicy peach from my tree that
was destroyed by a careless act of a contractor. How many
careless acts have destroyed and are destroying many food
sources? We are not doing enough to protect our food sources.

"Is There Beauty in Rottenness"
Why do some people see beauty in
the rotten acts of people and institutions? In this rotten egg
composition, I was taken by the beautiful vivid colors, how they
blended, and how this composition momentarily lessened the
fact that this egg was rotten and that there was a deceased life
form enveloped in this rottenness. What is and is not being said in
the main news media and other sources available to The People is
lessening the impact of how we see the rotten acts being
perpetrated against people and institutions that protect The
People. It appears many people have chosen to only see what
they consider beauty in rotten acts. To see rottenness as it is,
would require them to change their foundational beliefs and
values, which usually is not easy to do.
