Spring Awakening

TheatreLab Dayton is seeking performers over the age of 18 of all genders, ethnic backgrounds, and abilities for our upcoming production of Spring Awakening. This is a non-union contracted production with stipend.
About the Show:
Spring Awakening is a bold and emotionally charged rock musical exploring the exhilaration, confusion, and heartbreak of adolescence. Set in late 19th century Germany, the story follows a group of young people navigating self-discovery, repression, sexuality, and the pressures placed upon them by society and authority.
This is a NON-AEA production. Performers will be contracted and receive a stipend.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Please prepare:
• 16–32 bars of a contemporary musical theatre or rock/pop song in the style of the show
• Bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided
• Be prepared for movement/dance at callbacks

Melchior Gabor
Intelligent, questioning, and rebellious. A charismatic young man who challenges authority and struggles to reconcile intellect with emotion.
Wendla Bergmann
Curious, innocent, and yearning to understand the world around her. Open-hearted with a growing sense of independence and desire.
Moritz Stiefel
Sensitive and deeply anxious. A young man overwhelmed by academic and societal pressures, searching for acceptance and meaning.
Ilse Neumann
Free-spirited, artistic, and emotionally perceptive. Lives outside societal expectations and offers a contrasting perspective on freedom and survival.
Martha Bessell
Gentle and quiet, carrying deep emotional pain beneath the surface. Seeks safety and connection among her peers.
Thea Rilow
Bright, energetic, and eager to belong. Often follows the group dynamic while navigating her own insecurities.
Anna
Sweet-natured and impressionable. Part of Wendla’s close circle of friends.
Georg Zirschnitz
Awkward, earnest, and romantically idealistic. Provides humor while also reflecting adolescent longing and confusion.
Hanschen Rilow
Confident, witty, and unapologetically self-assured. Challenges social expectations with intelligence and charm.
Ernst Robel
Thoughtful, reserved, and searching for connection. Finds unexpected confidence through friendship and self-discovery.
Otto, Dieter, Rupert, and Adult Men/Women
Ensemble tracks that help create the world of the play. Performers may cover multiple featured moments and vocal responsibilities throughout the production.
