House of Memories is an animated short focusing on the idea of trauma. The piece walks through a hallway featuring a series of rooms in which all unfold a different stage of trauma as we progress through life. We begin through childhood, watching our innocence and past burn behind us. Progressing into adulthood our hearts have learned to break, whether that may be internally, or externally; and for us most, substance abuse. Moving forward we start to drown. Drown in our own actions, our own thoughts. We all will go out but it’s a matter of how. And we finally end at our final destination, whatever that may be.
The animation depicts an open ended journey through life in every stage, or the rather worse things. The house is a symbolization of our mind. Our mental state, while the rooms convey the nostalgia of our past, they are a symbolization of the doors to our trauma. The piece's journey is meant to be interpreted by the audience in order to connect with diverse pasts.
