Dayton Ballroom Dance Club

Dayton Ballroom Dance Club Ballroom Dance Lessons: Group classes for all levels Basic, Bronze I, Bronze II and silver. Lessons are in groups. You can bring a partner but it's optional.

We teach lessons in Swing, Rumba, Cha Cha, Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Bolero, Mambo/Salsa, Samba, Merengue and Quickstep from 7:30 PM until 9:15 PM most Mondays, followed by general social dancing until 10:30 PM. The club provides dance instruction on four different levels: Basic, Bronze I, Bronze II, and Silver. We sponsor two dances each year: the Anniversary Ball in the spring and the President's B

all in the fall. Basic Class

The Basic Class was developed for beginners who have never had any kind of ballroom dance instruction. The class rotates through an eight week schedule, introducing a new dance each week. Students in this class learn the basic steps and timing of East Coast Swing, Rumba, ChaCha, Waltz, Foxtrot, Merengue, 4-Count Hustle and Tango. Students may return to these classes if they feel they need to brush up on their basic steps. Bronze I Class

After completing the six week Basic class, student move into the Bronze I class. This class goes back over the same steps taught in the Basic class, but adds 5-6 more steps to each dance. Instruction is split between 2 different dances each week. Students in the class improve their repertoire of steps as well as their timing and technique. After about a year, students take a small test before progressing into the next class. Bronze II/Silver Class

After passing the test to move out of Bronze I, students move on to the Bronze II/Silver class. Besides adding several additional steps, this class focuses on dancing technique. Students will focus on improving their ability to lead and follow while staying in time with the music. It generally takes between 1 and 2 years for students to progress out of this class. Students must once again pass a test in order to move to the next level. Silver/Gold Class

Reserved for the truly obsessed is the final level of instruction...the Silver/Gold class. The most Advanced students attend this class where they focus on learning the most complex, challenging steps. They also work on improving their technique and timing.

Hey party people!!!! Dayton Ballroom is going to be at Dancetonians in August, Septermber, and October.

August 8, Jill Christy, the silver instructor, will teach Rumba before the dance. September 12, Jeff Campbell, the Bronze instructor, will teach cha cha. October 10, Jill will be back to teach West Coast Swing. Mark your calendars and join us.
