Columbus/Ohio audio people!

If tight, punchy mixes are your jam, you should come to MixLab on August 18.

It’s a one-day conference, focused on making you a better mixer. Jeff Sandstrom’s leading the first session, showing us around one of his recent mixes using multitracks. Then lunch (Chick-fil-a) with free giveaways. Session 2 will be Kent Margraves building a mix from the bottom up with a live band. Plus, lots of brands will be there with gear you can touch and hear.

We’re pulling out all the stops to make this the best live sound training you’ve ever been to. Hope you can make it.

There’s nothing like a good burger and brew with your baseball game. So when Ovation was enlisted to provide a rock-solid distributed video and audio system that could keep up with tables of cheering fans (while being simple to use), we jumped at the chance. Controlled by Q-SYS, the system can send up to 6 different sources to any of the 10 displays in the restaurant. And the IP-based Bluesound speakers sound incredible and get way louder than you’d expect.

Whatever the sport, this system serves up big game energy with a side of seamless control.

Going up!

At Salem Church of God, the struggle with front wash instruments that were too dim, poorly located, and downright dangerous to focus or re-lamp had gone on for years. Our solution: suspend moving head instruments below the finished ceiling on truss and motors, making it easy to light any spot on stage and dramatically safer to access the equipment for servicing. Plus, with the ability to raise or lower the whole rig, now the team is able to get the perfect angle for lighting talent on stage … win - win!

The team at Kid Clubhouse knows a thing or two about delivering great guest experiences. Where else can parents recharge while their kids play to exhaustion?

So when Ovation was approached to enhance the play areas of their Mason location with lighting that adds special drama to the fun, we jumped in with both feet. The result is a touch-panel operated system that makes it easy for staff to activate lighting by zone, change color schemes, and even create custom looks on the fly. Add haze to the mix and things get downright magical.

Cincinnati’s Aronoff Center for the Arts has hosted many of Broadway’s most acclaimed shows, like Phantom of the Opera, Lion King, Hamilton, Le Miserables, Wicked and many more. But for decades, the house PA system struggled to convey the power of these performances. Coverage and tonality issues were a recurring theme. So in 2025, the Aronoff invited Ovation and Meyer Sound in to reimagine what the house PA could become with the goal of matching the caliber of the performances held there. After months of design work and nearly a year in waiting for funding, the project was given the green light.

No stone was left unturned for this modernization, from an entirely new Dante backbone, a Yamaha DM7 mixing system, new stage monitors, new signal cable infrastructure, new rigging and motors, sequencing, and much more. For the PA, Meyer Leopards, 900-LFC, 2100-LFC and Ultra X80’s all played a role, complimented by Fulcrum Acoustics RX series speakers for under-balcony and front fills that used existing apertures. The result is coverage that is +/- 1.5 db across the entire audience plane. The improvement was a night and day difference. We couldn’t be more honored to play this role in supporting the arts in Cincinnati and beyond.
