Artists and scholars of national and international renown, including award-winning directors and designers, comprise the diverse faculty at UC Davis Department of Theatre and Dance. Undergraduate student Timothy Austin, who played Robert Martin in "The Drowsy Chaperone," is currently appearing in the ensemble of All About Theatre's production of the Tony Award-winning musical "Dear Evan Hansen." Running through Aug. 29, the coming-of-age musical centers on a lonely high school student with social anxiety who fabricates a friendship with a deceased classmate to gain social acceptance. Taught by Granada Artist Catherine Castellanos, the class focuses on reading and analyzing dramatic texts as blueprints for performance. Students will learn methods to uncover character objectives, justify action through text-based evidence, and interpret structure, conflict, and theme. This foundational class equips actors to make informed, playable choices that illuminate the playwright’s intention, activate imagination and personalization, and bring clarity and depth to their performances.

Experience stage-managing a music performance.
Experience working with and leading a crew that has a variety of experience levels, including student crew members.
Experience acting in one or more of the following capacities in a performance setting: light board operator, live-audio mixing engineer, or video technician. Experience operating power tools, hand tools, and pneumatic equipment within safety guidelines.
Experience working with a wide variety of users, including regional, national, or internationally-known artists. Experience using electronic scheduling software, as well as diagram-making software (examples include Vectorworks, OmniGraffle, VISIO, CAD, Google Sketch).
