Openly inspired by Gaya Ceramic 💥
I come from the world of theater, so when I saw what they did I thought: yes, I want to play with that too. I borrowed the idea —with full credit— and made my own versions with my pieces.

And since I also love contemporary jewelry… why not fantasize about wearing my pieces as accessories?

Plot twist: I think this just brought back a line of work I had put on hold.
Off to the studio to make some new jewelry pieces. 💥💥💥

Vengo del teatro, así que cuando vi lo que hicieron pensé: sí, yo también quiero jugar a eso. Me copié la idea —con todo el crédito— y me hice mis propias versiones con mis piezas.

Y como además amo la joyería contemporánea… ¿por qué no fantasear con usar mis piezas como accesorios?

Plot twist: creo que esto acaba de reactivar una línea que tenía en pausa.
Me voy al taller a sacar unas piezas nuevas de joyería. 💥💥💥

Marián Angulo —aangulo— wrote in her October 11 email this year about the relationship between creativity and fun. For her, the two are deeply connected, and she also speaks about creating from the calmness of play. I like that idea because it brings the creative act back to a less solemn place: experimenting, trying things, making mistakes, having fun, and allowing things to appear that we probably could never have planned.

This image came out of one of those days. I took it in 2022 at Acción Cerámica, in Caracas, when I shared that space with so many people: students, artists, ceramicists, friends. Daniel (Daniel Guerra | Artista Multimedia ) had made these small amorphous figures and, as soon as I saw them, without thinking too much about it, I put them on my fingers, stepped out onto the studio balcony, and took the photo.

I think of those Borgesian ideas where the infinite fits into the smallest things—as if a simple gesture could hold an entire universe.

These days, away from the studio, I find in simplicity a way to keep going:
a mug, a line, a moment.

A space apart…one I don’t plan to inhabit for long…

Pienso en esas ideas de Borges donde lo infinito cabe en lo mínimo—como si un pequeño gesto pudiera contener un universo entero.

Estos días, lejos del taller, encuentro en lo simple una forma de seguir: una servilleta, un trazo, un instante.

Un espacio aparte…que no espero habitar por mucho tiempo.
