I think of those Borgesian ideas where the infinite fits into the smallest things—as if a simple gesture could hold an entire universe.

These days, away from the studio, I find in simplicity a way to keep going:
a mug, a line, a moment.

A space apart…one I don’t plan to inhabit for long…

Pienso en esas ideas de Borges donde lo infinito cabe en lo mínimo—como si un pequeño gesto pudiera contener un universo entero.

Estos días, lejos del taller, encuentro en lo simple una forma de seguir: una servilleta, un trazo, un instante.

Un espacio aparte…que no espero habitar por mucho tiempo.

It moves, it expands, it makes mistakes,
and in that gesture it finds its truth.

Watercolor doesn’t explain:
it suggests, it breathes, it dissolves.

Water decides before I do.
I simply accompany the gesture.
What remains is memory,
suspended light,
a way of being.

Trabajo con agua porque no miente.
Se mueve, se expande, se equivoca
y en ese gesto encuentra su verdad.

La acuarela no explica: sugiere, respira, se disuelve.

El agua decide antes que yo. Yo solo acompaño el gesto. Lo que queda es memoria, luz suspendida, una forma de estar.

Guardián del Ánima

Creé esta pieza buscando una presencia que me acompañara en el taller -orgánica, compacta y casi animal— surgió como un refugio para las ansiedades dentro de mi propio proceso creativo. He visto varias esculturas parecidas que me encantan y quería uno para mi.

Además, quería que funcionara como contenedor físico y simbólico: puede albergar plantas o agua, pero que también guardara intuiciones, silencios y gestos que necesitaran tiempo y resguardo.

En él se encarna la energía del Ánima, el arquetipo junguiano asociado a la sensibilidad, la imaginación y la capacidad de escucha interior. Su mirada mínima y su postura firme pero suave me recuerdan que la creación no se sostiene únicamente en la acción, sino también en la observación, la receptividad y el cuidado.

Este guardián se convertiría en un punto de anclaje dentro del nuevo espacio del taller: una presencia que protege mi mundo simbólico, que me acompañara en la búsqueda y que preservara lo frágil de una mente creadora.

Me permito siempre protegerme.

Guardian of the Anima

I created this piece seeking a presence to accompany me in the studio—organic, compact, and almost animal-like. It emerged as a refuge for the anxieties within my own creative process. I had seen several similar sculptures that I loved, and I wanted one for myself.

I also wanted it to function as a physical and symbolic container: capable of holding plants or water, but also of safeguarding intuitions, silences, and gestures that require time and protection.

Within it resides the energy of the Anima, the Jungian archetype associated with sensitivity, imagination, and the ability to listen inwardly. Its minimal gaze and firm yet gentle posture remind me that creation is sustained not only through action, but also through observation, receptivity, and care.

This guardian would become an anchor within the new studio space—a presence that protects my symbolic world, accompanies me in the search, and preserves what is fragile within a creative mind.

Me repito…I repeat myself

It is not just an object, it is a fragment of nature transformed into a unique body. A reminder that ceramics always surprise me with living forms, as if the earth were secretly holding entire landscapes that only fire knows how to reveal.

What attracts me most is how the textures converse with each other: the roughness that transforms into shine, the depths that open into patches of color, the unpredictable that becomes beauty. It is like looking at the sea in calm or the dampened forest and suddenly discovering its hidden movements, losing oneself in the repeating greens—so different and yet so familiar.

When I observe it, I cannot help but remember the mountains of my city, El Ávila always there, present, reminding me of the importance of having a landscape nearby to sustain us. Today my landscape is the parks, the waters, the light, and the open skies of Florida; in my ceramics I try to let both worlds—sea and mountain, here and there—continue their conversation.

No es solo un objeto, es un fragmento de naturaleza transformada en un cuerpo único. Un recordatorio de que la cerámica siempre me sorprende con formas vivas, como si la tierra guardara en secreto paisajes enteros y solo el fuego sabe revelarlos.

Lo que más me atrae es cómo las texturas dialogan entre sí: lo rugoso que se transforma en brillo, lo profundo que se abre en manchas de color, lo impredecible que se convierte en belleza. Es como mirar el mar en calma o el bosque humedecido y de repente descubrir sus movimientos ocultos, perderse en los verdes que se repiten, tan distintos y a la vez tan familiares.

Cuando lo observo, no puedo dejar de recordar las montañas de mi ciudad, el Ávila siempre ahí, presente, recordándome la importancia de tener un paisaje cerca que nos sostenga. Hoy mi paisaje son los parques, las aguas, la luz y los cielos abiertos de Florida; en mi cerámica intento que ambos mundos —mar y montaña, aquí y allá— sigan conversando.

As I prepare to move into my new studio, I’ve been reflecting on these past three years and everything they meant to me.

When I arrived in the U.S., after leaving my home country—my partner ,my beautiful school, my studio, and so many beautiful projects—it was a moment of huge transition. I was starting again from zero, carrying both excitement and a bit of uncertainty.

was the first place that opened its doors to me. It gave me a space to keep creating while I rebuilt my path here, and for that I will always be grateful.

To the staff—especially —thank you for your kindness, support, and for making the process easier during such an important stage of my life. Your generosity and professionalism made a real difference.

Before I step into this next chapter, we have one celebration together:

With time, one learns to understand what brings us closer, especially when sharing the same space with those who come from other places.

I’ve learned to see materials, colors, and blends with new eyes.

In each piece, I find traces of my own geographies — the colors and the warm, shifting light that now embraces me.

I’ve come to understand the similarities between those of us connected through water.

We come closer more than we drift apart.

Boundaries, most of the time, dissolve…

Con el tiempo uno aprende a entender aquello que nos acerca, especialmente cuando compartimos el mismo espacio con quienes vienen de otros lugares.

He aprendido a mirar con otros ojos la materia, los colores, las mezclas.

En cada pieza encuentro rastros de mis geografías: los colores y la luz caliente y cambiante que ahora me abraza.

He entendido las similitudes entre quienes compartimos la unión a través del agua.
Nos acercamos más de lo que nos alejamos.
Los límites, la mayoría de las veces, se diluyen…

“To restore you and myself, I return to my state of garden and shade, cool reality, I hardly exist and if I do exist it’s with delicate care. Surrounding the shade is a teeming, sweaty heat. I’m alive. But I feel I’ve not yet reached my limits, bordering on what? Without limits, the adventure of a dangerous freedom. But I take the risk, I live taking it. I’m full of acacias swaying yellow, and I, who have barely begun my journey, begin it with a sense of tragedy, guessed what lost ocean my life steps will take me to. And crazily I latch onto the corners of myself, my hallucinations suffocate me with their beauty. I am before, I am almost, I am never. “
