Have you ever head of John Antes? This Moravian missionary was one of the earliest American-born Western chamber music composers and the maker of perhaps the earliest surviving bowed string instrument made in America. Dr. Christopher Ogburn of the Moravian Music Foundation tells us how music was a part of everyday Moravian life and how that influenced Antes' musicianship.

If there's anything a classical fan appreciates, it's the beautiful craftsmanship of an excellent instrument. Host Myelita Melton tells us more about this treasure: an organ located in Winston-Salem, NC, lovingly restored after years of being forgotten in storage.

You can learn about this wonderful instrument, and more on Moravian music, during this summer's America 250 special, Vienna in the Wilderness.

Thank you to the Moravian Music Foundation for their support on this project!
