Today, Common Thread Theatre Collective honors Juneteenth—a day of reflection, celebration, and a reminder of the ongoing journey toward true freedom, equality, and justice.

At CTTC, our mission is deeply rooted in amplifying underrepresented stories and honoring the diverse threads that weave our community together.

As we reflect on the legacy of Juneteenth, we invite you to join us this season in uplifted community dialogue and powerful storytelling. Let’s continue to learn from the past, shape our culture in the present, and write a more inclusive future together.

Happy Juneteenth from all of us at Common Thread Theatre Collective! ❤️💛💚🖤

At Common Thread Theatre Collective (CTTC), theatre is more than entertainment—it is a force for societal change.

Co-founded by the theatre faculties of Davidson College and North Carolina A&T State University, CTTC bridges two distinct institutions with a singular vision: creating professional, engaging productions that amplify traditionally underrepresented voices in mainstream American theatre.

By investing in local playwrights and student talent, we are actively shaping our community's artistic landscape.

Join us in supporting professional, community-centered art. Our New Works Festival runs late June across Davidson and Greensboro. All performances are pay-what-you-can.

From dermatology to the dramatic arts! 🩺➡️🎭 Meet David Schoenfeld, a featured playwright in this year's festival. After a fulfilling medical career, David is embracing his "second act," using his unique background in science and deep empathy to construct witty, authentic, and character-driven ensemble pieces.

CTTC is proud to present his play, Group Massage Therapy.

🌿 The Story: Four female massage therapists navigate the hidden challenges of their profession—including emotional labor, blurred boundaries, and client entitlement. Together, they explore what true healing means while reclaiming their dignity and voices through care, consent, and solidarity.

Join us for the reading and stay for the post-show feedback session!

🎟️ Pay-what-you-can tickets are available now at commonthreadtheatre.org.

Meet Brian Daye, one of our featured creators for this summer's New Works Festival! Brian is a veteran Charlotte-based actor, director, and producer who has been shaping the regional theatre scene for decades.

This season, CTTC will present a directed reading of his gripping play, The Race.
⚖️ The Story: An African American criminal defense attorney agrees to represent a White Supremacist Death Row Inmate falsely accused of murder. With a midnight ex*****on scheduled for Christmas Eve morning, the attorney stands as his absolute last hope for a clemency appeal.
