A PEACEFUL DAY

A peaceful walk
on a lonely beach,
feeling the energy
of the earth on bare feet
I sink in the sand
electricity meets
the Earth and the human
have entered a time
suspended in stillness
when all is sublime.
Here steps are unmeasured,
paradise is refined.
Oh what a treasure,
the pleasure all mine.

Why be so serious.
Celebrate often,
especially if for no reason
other than celebrating life itself.
Celebrate your favorite tree
or the touch of a loved one.
It elevates you and
the energy around you in an exponentially wonderful way.
Wait! Do you hear it?
Kool & the Gang’s song,
“Celebrate Good Times, Come On!”
It's up to you!
What's your pleasure?❤️💃

When No One was Looking-

When no one was looking,
I fell in love
and just in that moment,
was there a dove?
A magical bird that
flew from above
into the heart of a
woman so strong,
allowing her heart
to just play along.

Alone for so long
she didn’t see it coming
so she didn’t guard it
or keep it from humming.

Lost in a timeline,
immensely at peace.
Engaging this moment
that never will cease.

For when you don’t see it
but know that it’s true,
The feeling of love
becomes part of you.

Wherever it goes,
it’s not up to you.
The numinous essence so deep
And so true you find you’re the love that is ancient, yet new.

Where Fairies Live

Envisioning where fairies live,
I thought they wouldn’t need a nest.
just layers of the softest things
so they’d never harm their precious wings.

Fairies work so hard for us.
We don’t see them, yet we can trust
they’re tending to a thousand things,
and life is better for what they bring.
And, I’ve heard they find things well.

Within this place, they rest so well
so we can trust they’ll never fail.

It’s the simple things.

The squirrel that says hello at your window, your beloved dog greeting at the door, always happy to see you; the light bulb moment when you realize your granddaughter isn’t a kid anymore, or your grandson says something so clever that there’s hope for generations.

When you look out your window and you see a dozen wild turkeys walking by, and they remind you of all the falls and Thanksgivings in your life — the reds and golds of leaves, memories gentle on your mind.

You can meet one million people, but then you meet someone who touches you, even without touching you. What is that?

It happens in a moment, and it lasts. If I were to describe the feeling, I would have to search for the most calming and beautiful words in the universe.

I’m not sure that our languages can hold — can live up to — that feeling, but I do think that feeling has created a multitude of poets. It’s in the attempt to describe the essence of that inner joy that we continue to create.

Her Big Dream
She tossed and turned in her big bed,
her favorite place to lay her head.
The grand adventure had begun,
and she was having so much fun.

It wasn’t perfect, so you know,
but it was real and true and so,
asleep, ecstatic,
she fought through
the urge to wake up—
so not to lose,

the theme she longed to stay within.
This dream’s been with her around the bend.

This night’s her time to bring it in,
it’s her big rhyme to feel and win
she wakes up in
the moment when
her big dream begins.

In the Red
By MK Hargrove

Being in the red
is not always a bad thing.
It makes you think you have blinked—
but here, it is serene.
Flowers bloom frondescently,
and all you see are reds.
Your eyes are saved,
filled with joy;
harsh feelings leave instead.
Not seeing red,
but beauty—
a gift that nature gave,
and we enjoyed the peace employed,
our nervous system saved.

“Zoological Stack”
A panel original by MK Hargrove

First stack the animals to the moon. Then turn it on its side and watch the story of a journeyman just about to get his stride.
The storyteller tells the tale -
her imagination never fails!
The story puzzle is in the making, and finding where to start.
For you are the creator who is interpreting the art.

Everything
Poem by MK Hargrove

I have time to write a poem today
before the first alarm,
to contemplate and see
the sight of day,
transforming from the night at play.

Becoming above clouds
that cover—no matter,
we know clouds won’t smother.
Light, I see, the vision is clear,
forever free to hold us here.

Near, the Earth, so we look up
to find the birds and trees,
the squirrels that chatter happily.

Did we chirp and cluck,
bark and scold,
making sounds,
vibrating souls?

Language is a wondrous thing.
Yet before our language
was everything.

We were folks communicating
with our grunts and bodies shaking,
arms arranging in the air,
and still, the Earth held us there.

Fair, so fair, with peace and quiet.
We hear it now with such delight.
Stillness, then a bird that sings,
or a voice of love—everything.

If you had a shoe,
a shell and a flower,
what would you contemplate
in this hour?
How would you put them together?
Perhaps you could
add a white feather,
but that wouldn’t fit in the puzzle.
I may be in need of a muzzle.
When, fitting or shoulding,
you know what I mean,
are certainly not of this artist’s scene.
My goal is to stay somewhere far,
in between.

JUMBLED

Stacked up to the moon and back
yet none are just alike,
mumbo, jumbo, jingle,
jing, jumbled with delight.
Although it looks confusing,
each piece is in its place -
colors and shapes that seem in chaos perhaps from outer space!
Imperfections, made mistakes,
and in art may look askew
are just new opportunities
that bring new works to you.
For if everything
was designed alike
how sad the world would be -
when the jumbled work
of artists’ minds bring versatility.
