What a year.. Hard to believe this time last year I was gearing up and getting ready to head to Gillette Wyoming for National Finals. Although my reign as Miss Iowa H.S. Rodeo has ended the opportunities, memories, and friendships will last a lifetime. Rodeo queening takes a village and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the support from my association, officer team, community, and most importantly my family. I will be forever grateful for how much my family does for me. Being in charge of sponsorship flags for grand entry, driving 13 hours to a rodeo, giving up 5 weekends in a row... you name it, they are always there to give a helping hand. This may be the end of another chapter, but I’m excited to see what the Lord has in store for me next. Thank you for a great year 💓

Signing out,

As I wrap up my last few weeks as Miss IHSRA 2023-2024, I am reminded that as a rodeo queen I'm not just promoting the great sport of rodeo, but I'm also able to educate others on the importance of agriculture and animal welfare. This morning I had the opportunity to talk to a large group of Danville elementary/daycare students about the Iowa High School Rodeo Association, different rodeo events, and share information on routine equine health care. I also got to introduce them to some of my favorite farm friends including my pet turkey, Frankfort. I am so thankful for my time as Miss IHSRA 2023-2024 and for all of the rodeos, appearances, events, and special memories. I will miss all of this. It has been such an honor and privilege serving as Miss IHSRA 2023-2024.

On this Memorial Day, let's take a moment to honor and remember all the brave soldiers who have sacrificed their lives in service to our country. Today, we pay tribute to these heroes and express how grateful we are for their selfless acts. Let us also recognize the families of these heroes and their support and strength. May we always cherish the memories of those who have given everything for our freedom. Thank you to all who have served and continue to serve. Happy Memorial Day ❤️💙

What a fun filled busy weekend. Bright and early Friday morning I traveled to Des Moines for the Iowa Horse Fair to run the IHSRA booth with our student officer Bailey Barker. The rest of the day was spent getting ready for our associations Cowboy Prom taking place the next day. All of the hard work spent planning paid off and many great memories were made. I can’t thank our National Director and Secretary James and Alison Young enough for all the things they do for us.

Gratefully,

💙 Learning to do, doing to learn, earning to live, living to serve. 💛

During the middle of my 7th grade year I joined my school's FFA chapter. Little did I know it was the start to many new friendships, and opportunities, along with an interest in agriculture and what it has to offer. Now three years later, I have been to both National and State FFA convention, competed in CDE/LDE competitions from the sub district level to the state level and have met so many new people from all over the United States.

FFA has taught me not only about agriculture, but about leadership, public speaking, and career skills such as, teamwork and responsibility which have helped me become more successful in the rodeo queen industry. Without my FFA chapter I wouldn’t be the kind of person I am today. As FFA week begins let’s take a moment to remind ourselves of the hard work and dedication the FFA Organization puts into helping students strive and grow in the world of agriculture.

Gratefully,
Olivia Freitag

Sadly my trip to Branson Missouri for NHSRA Mid-Winter Meeting has come to an end. I couldn’t be more grateful to spend the week with my fellow IHSRA officers, National Director, Secretary, and the other states that attended as well.

During our week we attended many meetings discussing plans for the coming year of National finals, rules, and how we can better our association. On Wednesday, we went to the President's Dinner followed by the Banquet on Friday where the queens helped model the auction items during the live auction.

It was such a great experience and many great memories were made. So thankful we had the opportunity to go on this trip and be a part of the behind the scenes of what goes into our great association.

🌲Just a Small Town Christmas🌲
Today I had the opportunity to make an appearance at the Danville Christmas Walk. I enjoyed making a visit at all the stops, but especially enjoyed the miniature highland cows, hanging out with the Grinch at our new Danville diner, and cuddling the bunnies at the FFA Petting Zoo.
I also enjoyed visiting several local small businesses at the vendor show including Preppin Mama who shares a passion for agriculture and has the most amazing freeze dried strawberries.
Great job Danville! What a wonderful holiday event. Thank you for all your hard work in putting this on 💚❤️

Earlier this week a special little cowgirl's mom sent this to me and it reminded me how blessed and thankful I am to be following my dreams and to have been given the opportunity to share the great world of rodeo with people of all ages. Not that long ago, I was this little girl. Dreaming of my first horse, dreaming of chasing cattle, rounding barrels, and carrying our American Flag into the arena as a rodeo queen. Just like Scout, I am so thankful for all of my friends, family, teachers, coaches, pageant directors/coordinators, horse trainers, sash Sisters, IHSRA family, and all who have believed in me and helped me in my journey. Scout, I am so honored you selected me to write about me at school but know I am thankful for you too! Have a great Thanksgiving everyone. God bless!
