The phrase, “This one really hurts” is often used all too frequently. But this time it really does.

Dolly has been a part of my world for as long as I can remember.

Far beyond her incredible talent was her genuine compassion and extraordinary humanity. She has always been there for the LGBTQIA community.

When I was a little boy, my mom used to sing this song to me whenever it would come on the radio. Especially when we were out driving. It is still one of my favorite songs. It’s even on my playlist when I work out.

God bless you, Dolly. Thank you, not only for the entertainment but for the unconditional love that came with it.

I think the whole world must be crying right now.

Happy Birthday to Princess Ozma, the true and rightful ruler of Oz.

L. Frank Baum was away ahead of his time. He had his flaws, make no mistake, he was human after all. He certainly was not without a narrow mind at times. However, he created one of the first Trans characters in the American fairy tale.

Princess Ozma. In his second Oz book, “The Marvelous Land of Oz”.

Transformed into a young boy named, Tip, as an infant. Who would eventually find out they really were a girl and the rightful ruler of the land of Oz.

Glinda the Good Witch of the South, makes sure that Tip’s true gender is restored to them.

Baum would create several of these characters. Non-Binary/Sexually ambiguous. See, “John Dough and the Cherub”.

Sadly, this “controversial” idea would be dropped from the 1985 Disney film, “Return to Oz”. Making Ozma female from start to finish.

Though the Children’s Theatre company would use it and even cast a young boy in the part. Through to Ozma’s gender switch at the end of the story. Curly wig and gown…the works! Pretty brave for 1981.

Winnie Holzman and Stephen Schwartz
are currently adapting the story as a new musical.

It’s a pity that certain other fantasy writers can’t be so forward thinking. They would be no where without L. Frank Baum.

He gave Ozma the birthday of August 21st. In his book, “The Road to Oz”.

Happy Birthday, Ozma!

Happy National Black Cat Day!

Especially to my big little girl, Louise “Ouisey”.

She’s our oldest. Havjng just turned 16 on June 10th. Yes, she shares her birthday with Miss Garland.

We adopted Louise and her sister Thelma back in 2012. Thelma and Louise 😻

Sadly, we lost Thelma to kidney disease when she was seven 😔

But Ouisey is still our little panther. A good big sister to her baby brother, Nuggy and her baby sister, Elphaba 😻😻😻😻

Consider adopting a black cat. They are the most euthanized breed. As we approach Halloween, just some 75 days away, they will become targets for torture and all kinds of indignities. Used for sport. All because of an insidious and stupid superstition.

Ouisey has been nothing but good luck and a very good girl.

We would be remiss if we did not mention and celebrate the world premiere of “The Wizard of Oz”. 87 years ago today at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.

It has been voted “The Most Influential Film in Movie History” after 47,000 films were viewed and analyzed. Deservedly so.

This trailer for the 3D release is a favorite of mine. It shows just how truly timeless it really is and always wilI be. It looks as though it had been made yesterday!

Happy anniversary, Judy, Ray, Jack, Bert, Margaret, Frank, Billie, Terry, Clara, Charlie, Noel, Victor, King, Arnold, Adrian, Herbert, Harold, Yip and the countless others who helped to create this eternal masterpiece 🌈🌈🌈🌈

Happy Birthday to the talented, lovely and beautiful-inside and out-Mila Kunis!

It was an incredible treat to have her ringside at my show at my supper club.

I will always be grateful for her lovely and rousing endorsement.

“Amazing! Peter Mac channels Judy Garland on stage in this loving tribute. He has the mannerisms, the voice, and the look down pat. A touching evening and all presented with such love, humor, polish and respect. I cannot wait to see this show again. Peter Mac IS Judy Garland. Don't miss it!"- Mila Kunis,”That 70’s Show”, “Oz, The Great and Powerful”

A very happy heavenly birthday to the incomparable, Dan Curtis.

Dan gave America one of its greatest escapes during the turmoil of the mid 1960’s and early 1970’s.

One half hour every week into the mythical and magical world of Collinsport, Maine.

Housewives stopped their housework and kids if every age ran home from school to join in on the exploits of the world’s first lovable, reluctant vampire, Barnabas Collins.

Sixty years later the Collins family legacy lives on! With a new animated series in the works.

Curtis was as fascinating, intricate and as complex as one of his DS storylines.

Of course, I will be speaking of him in my upcoming show, “Barnabas and Me and My Dark Shadows”. How could I not?!

Second generation fan here. But still, I had two constants in my adolescence. The magic and solace of Judy Garland’s artistry and the mystique and safety of Collinsport, Maine.

Happy Birthday, Dan! And thank you ❤️🦇🦇🦇🦇❤️

Happy 2nd Birthday, Miss Elphaba!

August 4th, 2024 something wonderful happened. God sent down a little extra fur ball of love.

Two December’s ago, I “gotcha”, Elphie and you have lived up to your magical name ever since. *Truly defying gravity on occasion 😊

I look forward to our coffee and cuddles every morning. The deluge of kisses and hugs I get throughout the rest of the day. Nobody gives kisses and hugs like you do, baby girl.

You always instinctively know just when Daddy Peter really needs them.

You are the best foot warmer at bedtime.

And I thank Grams and Binxy every day for sending you my way.

Here’s to the “terrific twos”!

Happy Birthday, baby girl
❤️😻😻😻😻😻❤️

*Consider rescuing a cat or kitten. Your life will be so much more richer for it.
