My Story:
My name's Dave I am 41 years old and crocheting is coping and therapy skill. I was taught by my Grandmother. I was one more way for me to feel closer to her. After crocheting off and on for most of my life, a few years ago I picked it back up and taught myself more about it. In my mid thirties I after a devastating event in my life I became addicted to alcohol and drugs. I have had many
ups and downs, good times and bad on this journey, and it has been a journey. Crocheting has become an essential part of my recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction, as well as a tool to help with my mental health. I began to use it as a way to help with my ADHD when I needed to concentrate in meetings and therapy groups. It worked so well that started using it in other parts of my life that were effected by ADHD. The more I practiced and learned more the more I wanted to create. I have found a new way to express my creativity and utilize parts of me that at one point effected my life in a way that was less than productive, and channel them into an amazing art form. With the help my my very supportive family and friends I am excited ton see where this journey takes me. Thank you for joining me for the new wild ride.
