in Studio Art with a focus in ceramics from Emory & Henry in 2009. After Graduation she moved to Damascus, where she focused on oil paintings as her creative outlet. In July 2011 she set up a ceramics studio at her home and has been happily sculpting ever since. Artist Statement:
My work has a wide rang of patterns flowing though out it. My art captures the textures in a stylistic composition th
at draws the viewer in and invites them to discover new experiences upon successive viewings. My oil paintings are colorful collages that bend patterns with scenes and objects. Within each piece is a separate piece of art that I have pulled together to create something new and captivating. The paintings evolve and flow, just like the patterns within them. Merging abstract designs, photography, and various patterns, the paintings develops a unique balance. I like my painting to have something sound, something not so sounds, and something with a beat. My ceramic work is a blend of organic and geometric shapes and patterns. The pieces have a smooth texture and simple color schemes. I use the positive and negative space to blend patterns of all varieties in to a flowing composition. My goal is for every viewer to have a unique interaction with the pieces. The pieces should change and alter as the viewers do. My hope is that each time the viewer encounters one of my pieces they discover a new shape, group of shapes, or pattern they had not seen before.
