DFW music family — I’m asking y’all to help me take care of one of our own.

I’ve spent a lot of years in this scene. I’ve photographed countless bands, stood in more photo pits and venues than I could ever count, and met some damn good people along the way. One thing I’ve always believed is that this scene is supposed to take care of its people when life hits hard.

Right now, Saint Charles could use us.

Charles lost his father unexpectedly Thursday. He actually got the call that his dad had passed away while he was setting up his equipment on stage. Somehow, he still made it through the rest of the night before everything finally hit him.

His father was only 55 years old.

Now Charles is trying to bring his dad home from Houston to Fort Worth and figure out how to pay for his cremation. There was no life insurance. There wasn't money sitting around for something like this. There wasn't time to prepare.

And I know asking for help isn't easy for him.

Hell, I know a lot of us are stubborn as s**t when it comes to asking for help. We'd rather figure it out ourselves, work another shift, sell something we own or struggle quietly before telling anybody we need somebody.

Charles is already talking about selling off his music equipment to help pay for this.

I really don't want to see him have to do that.

That equipment isn't just stuff. It's part of what allows him to do what he loves and be part of this music community.

So I'm asking my friends, the bands I've photographed, photographers, musicians, promoters, venues, fans and everybody else I've met through this crazy world of music over the years:

Let's help this dude bury his father.

You don't have to send $100. You don't have to send $50. If a bunch of us throw in $5, $10 or $20, that s**t adds up FAST.

If you're able to help:

CashApp: $ih8ollie

And if money is tight right now, I completely understand. Share this. That's free, and getting this in front of the right people could make all the difference.

I've included a few photos I've taken of Charles doing what he loves — standing on a stage with a guitar in his hands.

I'd much rather see that guitar stay there than see him have to sell his gear because he wasn't financially prepared to lose his father at 37 years old.

Nobody is prepared for that.

Charles, I'm incredibly sorry for your loss, brother.

DFW music scene — let's show up for one of our own. 🤘❤️
