"If you’re heading to Palo Duro for the first time, here’s what I’d tell a friend:

Start early. Sunrise paints the canyon in colors I still try to capture in clay. It’s the most peaceful way to meet the place 🌅

Walk the Lighthouse Trail at least once. It’s not just the famous formation that’s worth the trip, but the shifting walls, stone layers, and shadows you notice along the way. Those small details? They’re exactly what inspire my sculptures.

Bring water, sunscreen, and curiosity. The canyon can be tough, but it rewards you with textures and shapes you won’t see anywhere else.

And my biggest tip: don’t rush. Let the place slow you down a little. That’s when it really gets to you.

The warm tones complement the rich reds and earthy textures of the sculpture beautifully. I love pairing it with natural materials like wood, stone, or even a soft linen runner to let the piece really breathe in the space.

"Did you know Canyon Creation was inspired by the “Spanish Skirts” formations in Palo Duro Canyon?💃🏽

These fan-shaped red rock walls reminded early Spanish explorers of the skirts women wore back home.

The canyon itself was carved over millions of years by wind and water—its rugged beauty is what I try to capture in every curve and texture of this sculpture. 👐
