Friends & Neighbors, we want to thank everyone who came out to support usāand all the other small Homespun vendorsāthis past weekend.
We had a couple of orders to wrap up this week, and it got us thinking about one of the things we love most about being a small local business: you actually get to know the people behind what you buy.
Shopping local does more than stimulate the local economy.
You get to know your community.
You get to shake the hands that made your bread, baked your pastries, grew your vegetables, poured your candles, built your furniture, or created that one-of-a-kind thing you brought home.
Your food is a little fresher. Your breakfast somehow tastes a little better. And you know that the money you spent didnāt disappear into some giant corporate machineāit went to a family right here in your community.
It helps pay a grocery bill. Buy supplies for the next market. Put gas in the truck. Send a kid to college. Keep somebodyās little dream moving forward.
And for us, it means we get to know you, too.
We know who loves the JalapeƱo Cheddar. We know who comes looking for cinnamon rolls. We recognize familiar faces across the table, hear what you liked, what you want us to make next, and get to be a small part of your weekends and family breakfasts.
That connection is something you just canāt put in a shopping cart.
So whether you bought a loaf from us, a jar of honey from somebody down the row, a handmade gift, lunch from a food truck, or just stopped to talk to a vendor for a few minutesāthank you.
Keep shopping small. Keep shopping local.
Youāre doing a lot more than buying stuff.
Youāre building a community.
