I am VERY ready for summer, sunshine & swimming. Seems like it has rained every weekend for two months here in Dallas 😢.
This post was inspired by ’s song, “Summer Vibe” & my sunglasses. Using color, especially in illustrations is a little scary for me 😬. I must say, I’m quite proud of how these sunglasses turned out 😎 & patting myself on the back!

My Papaw is my first recipient of a custom calligraphy card for his birthday 🎂 😊.

Mastering a new lettering technique/tool takes time and practice. “Practice Makes Progress” applies to each technique I’ve used leading up to calligraphy. Handling the tools goes against all instincts of writing — from angles to pressure to controlling ink flow.

It’s a challenge that I’ve learned to love and all of the practice sheets scattered around my apartment prove it 😆.

Watching Bob Ross on Netflix has been my saving grace at the end of the day 🙌🏼. His soothing voice paired with his impeccable talent to bring life to a blank canvas is incredibly satisfying to watch. I especially love when he laughs at himself cleaning his brush on the easel leg “Beat the devil out of it” 😆.

Progress > Perfection ✨.
I’m very impatient, and constantly have to remind myself to S L O W D O W N while practicing calligraphy. I was starving while making this video & half way through my air fryer timer went off. So, keeping the pace was a challenge 😰
