One of the most meaningful traditions at Turtle Creek Chorale is the Turtle Pinning Ceremony, a milestone that officially welcomes new members into our community and celebrates the journey they've taken during their first session with the Chorale.
When you look closely at the Turtle Creek Chorale lapel pin, you'll notice two colors, red and pink. The red honors our history, resilience, and the more than 190 brothers we lost during the height of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The pink represents our solidarity, advocacy, and love for those impacted by breast cancer.
Each pin connects a new member to those who came before them and to the generations of singers who helped shape the Chorale into what it is today.
That sense of connection is exactly what Frederick found during his first session with TCC. Here's what he had to say about becoming an official Turtle:
"Coming from a smaller chorus, I wasn’t sure what it would be like joining such a large group. I worried a little about how I’d fit in, but everyone has been so welcoming, friendly, and encouraging from the very beginning.
This first session has been an incredible experience, and I’ve already met so many amazing people. Thank you all for making me feel at home and for welcoming me into the Turtle Creek family. I’m excited for everything that’s ahead!
Also a big thank you to my Big, Chris, for helping me through my journey."
We're honored to welcome Frederick as an official Turtle and look forward to sharing many more memories, performances, and moments together.
