We’re thrilled to see Uptown Players featured in this week’s Dallas Voice, with Rich Lopez shining a spotlight on both of our season-finale productions — Application Pending and Mother Play — plus B.J. Cleveland taking over the cover!

Uptown Players’ regional premiere of Paula Vogel’s MOTHER PLAY: A Play in Five Evictions opens TOMORROW NIGHT at Theatre Three!

At its heart, Mother Play is about family—the people who shape us, the complicated ways we love one another, and our very human need to be seen and accepted for who we are.

Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel brings humor, honesty and compassion to a deeply personal story that somehow feels remarkably universal. Funny, flawed, resilient and complicated… this is one family you won’t soon forget.

Starring Cara Statham Serber, Leslie Marie Collins and Ryan Michael Friedman, and directed by Cheryl Denson.

Uptown Players announces auditions for the Texas premiere of Designing Women, a new comedy by original series creator Linda Bloodworth-Thomason and directed by Linda Leonard. The production runs December 4–13, 2026 at the Kalita Humphreys Theater.

This timely Southern comedy brings the iconic Atlanta interior design quartet into the turbulent quarantine of 2020, where they navigate political divides, personal revelations, generational clashes, and a crisis that threatens to split up their firm.

All roles are open to both union and non-union actors. There are two LOA/LORT principal equity contracts available for this production. The production is under the direction of Linda Leonard.

Auditions will be held by appointment on Sunday, September 13 from 11 AM–7 PM at the Uptown Players offices, 1327 Motor Circle, Dallas, TX 75207. Callbacks will take place Monday, September 14 from 6–9 PM.
