Today was so much fun as the campers designed their own sewn felt emoji/ animal. They were working so meticulously, so most of the stuffed pieces will be finished tomorrow.

This is a very special group of girls to me- I teach these young artists during the school year at the school I work at! A very helpful room-mom set this all up with other interested parents, and she hosted it at her house. I love my job at school, but it seemed so laid back and easy to work with a small group of all girls, with a much longer time frame to work in (2.5 hours versus 45 minutes!). Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!

Last day of camp! Sq**rt gun painting, clay painting, and last chance slime making!

This week we’ve been making slime, aluminum foil/ texture board paintings, shaving cream marbled prints, felt emoji pillows (and other felt characters), and air dry clay animals. Tomorrow the campers will paint their clay animals, and find out their last surprise project! Yesterday we were having so much fun we didn’t even take a snack/ playground break because they wanted to keep making felt pillows 🤓 Today I made sure we took time to get outside for a few minutes to stretch our legs and play some games. 2.5 hours goes by fast!

Here are a few of my favorite projects I have worked on with my students, some scenes from my classroom, and there is one from a painting event I did with some of my Kindergarteners.

About Me

Hello! My name is Casey, and I am a teacher in Richardson Independent School District. I’m a graduate of Texas Woman’s University, with a Bachelor’s in Art Education. I currently teach art to grades K- 6. My passions include teaching, crafting, ceramics, gardening, animals, traveling, and constantly learning how to best serve my community. This summer I will be teaching Arts and Crafts camps for kids that last 2.5 hours Monday thru Friday. Each day the kids will make a different craft/ piece of art to take home. Here is the description for the camps!

During this five- day workshop, artists ages 6-12 will learn to create at least five different and exciting masterpieces.

Each day will be devoted to one of the following projects:

-Make Your Own serving of the ever-so-popular SLIME
