Goldmark artist Jacqueline Smith welcomed fellow Goldmark artists into her studio earlier this month during the Artists' Social event for our Goldmark artist community.

Jacqueline shared her latest printmaking projects and artwork with her fellow Goldmark artists, many of whom were meeting her for the first time.

Visitors to the Goldmark Cultural Center can also meet different Goldmark artists, check out their artwork, and visit some of their art studios during our regular visiting hours: 10am - 5pm on weekdays and during any of our public art events and receptions on weekend afternoons and evenings.

Although not all the Goldmark artists are around to open their art studios when visitors drop by, with 170+ artists in our community, there is always a good chance that you will meet some friendly artists and check out their latest studio projects when you visit!

So if you are itching to stop by this weekend, we will be open to visitors this Saturday 5/30 from 2.00pm - 6.00pm for all the public art events and activities that afternoon and evening!

Join us at the Goldmark Cultural Center this Saturday 5/30 from 5.00pm - 6.00pm for another session in an ongoing series of art critique meet-ups for the Goldmark artist community, friends, and visitors! The theme of this daytime meet-up is recent works.

Bring one or more of your recent artworks to the Auditorium in Building 14001, where we will take turns constructively critiquing each other's artworks. You can bring multiple artworks, and they can be any medium or size. We will have different easels available for displaying 2D artworks, and plenty of table space for displaying 3D works.

You can also participate without bringing an artwork, but the event won't work if everyone shows up emptyhanded!

If you are a Goldmark artist, you can also leave your artwork(s) in your studio, and the critique group will visit your studio to do the critique.

We will have a digital projector available in the Auditorium for anyone who wants to bring a powerpoint slideshow to help them explain their creative process, their concept, and sources of inspiration.

Depending on how many artists partcipate, we may run longer than 1 hour in order to give everyone a chance to have their artwork critiqued.

If you enjoyed the nighttime critique session earlier this month, we will resume the nighttime sessions in June. Stay tuned for an announcement about the date of the next nighttime critique session in the coming weeks!

Join us on Saturday 5/30 from 2:00pm - 3:00pm in the Goldmark Cultural Center’s auditorium for a show-and-tell roundtable discussion all about brushes, those most essential tools for painters and artists in all mediums!

What types of brushes should be used for different mediums? Are expensive brushes worth getting for certain projects, or can inexpensive brushes be used in a pinch? How do we care for brushes? What are the best practices for cleaning brushes? How should freshly cleaned brushes be dried and stored?

During the discussion, we will hopefully address all these questions and more!

If you can, bring some examples of your own brushes and related accessories, like brush soap/cleaners and holders, so we can exactly reference the different things we will be discussing.

Goldmark artists admiring all the new flowers, herbs, and vegetables in our community garden during last Saturday's Goldmark Artists' Social event.

We appreciate Goldmark artist Kyle Wood and all the other gardening volunteers in our artist community for their hard work in organizing, planting, and caring for the garden each year.

Thanks to their tireless efforts, all Goldmark artists can enjoy this vibrant and welcoming outdoor space and harvest a wide selection of vegetables, fruits, and herbs for the rest of the season!

Stay tuned for more photos from our Artists' Social event, highlighting different Goldmark artists and their Goldmark art studios!

This Sunday 5/17 from 4.00pm to 5.00pm, join us at the Goldmark Cultural Center's auditorium for a show-and-tell roundtable discussion all about fine art prints and reproduction prints!

The technology and techniques for making reproduction prints of artwork on archival paper, canvas, and other materials have greatly improved in quality and cost over the years. We will review different types of fine art or reproduction prints and share samples of our artwork that have been reproduced using different printing methods.

We will also talk about other aspects of reproducing your artwork into prints. What is the best way to scan or photograph your original artwork to produce the digital image file for a print? How should prints be stored, prepared, packaged, and displayed for sale? How should prints be priced compared to the original artwork or other types of reproduction prints? Are there some situations where it is not appropriate to reproduce your artwork as a print?

If you can, bring some examples of your own reproduction prints and related accessories, like plastic envelope sleeves, so we can exactly reference the different things we will be discussing.

If you like this roundtable discussion format, let us know your suggestions for topics!
