Bruce Wood Dance Dallas-based contemporary dance company creating world class dance in North Texas since 2010. Bruce Wood Dance is built on Wood’s vision and prolific artistry.

Hailed as Dallas’ “shining star”, Bruce Wood Dance is an award-–winning contemporary dance company founded in 2010 by nationally acclaimed Texas artistic director and choreographer Bruce Wood (1960–2014). Bruce Wood Dance has been recognized as Best Dance Company by D Magazine in 2013, 2014, 2017, 2019, and 2021 and Best of Dallas Voice 2014–2018 and 2020. Bruce Wood Dance has performed across Texas, at the Joyce Theater in New York City, at Jacob’s Pillow’s Inside/Out Performance Series, and other festivals in New York, Ohio, Washington D.C, and Tulsa.

After graduating from the University of Arizona in 2013, he has performed with DanceWorks Chicago, River North Dance Chicago, Visceral Dance Chicago, and Ballet Hispánico.

Originally from Sonoma County, California, he trained in martial arts for seven years before realizing his sister got more attention as a dancer.

Outside of performing, he is grateful to have been able to expand into administrative roles — creating the WOOD|WORKS intensive programs, coordinating and co-directing two collaborative performances with the Uptown Players, and now producing 𝙍𝙊𝙊𝙏𝙎, BWDD’s pre-professional development program.

Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, she began her dance training at Atlanta Ballet’s Center for Dance Education.

She continued her training with Texas Ballet Theater School’s Professional Division in 2014 and was promoted to trainee with the company the following year. And, in 2016, she joined Avant Chamber Ballet.

She currently teaches ballet and tap at Texas Ballet Theater School. Lauren is also pursuing a degree in dietetics through the University of Arizona Online, with hopes of becoming an oncology dietitian.
