Meet the Directors of our upcoming season!

Our Producing Artistic Director, Bruce DuBose, will be taking on Evening at the Talk House by Wallace Shawn. Bruce last directed Athena by Gracie Gardner which kicked off our 2024-2025 Season. This Regional Premiere kicks off our 2026-2027 Season. 

vickie washington is directing for the rest of our lives by Erin Malone Turner. vickie has directed and acted in countless productions locally and nationally including Fat Ham at the Dallas Theatre Center and Stage West, Strange Loop at Circle Theatre, Primary Trust, Responders, The Mountaintop, Schoolgirls; or the African Mean Girls Play, with TheatreSquared.

Christina Cranshaw, Undermain’s Artistic Associate, directed last season’s Saturn Return by Gracie Gardner and Sam Shepard’s Action as well as The Three Cuckolds and Metamorphosis at Hip Pocket Theatre. She will be directing the Regional Premiere of Veal by Jojo Jones this spring.

Last season’s production of Thornton Wilder’s The Skin of Our Teeth was directed by Stefan Novinski, who returns to Undermain to direct our season closing production of Tennessee Williams’ late period piece The Two Character Play (Out Cry). Stefan is a Professor of Drama at the University of Dallas and has directed nationally at Boise Contemporary Theater, Florida Repertory Theater, Falcon Theater, La Jolla Playhouse, Kirk Douglas Theatre, and South Coast Rep.

WANT TO EARN A COOL $1200 THIS FALL?

Undermain Theatre is hiring for Front of House positions

Job responsibilities include ushering, concessions, box office

September 17-October 4, 2026

for the rest of our lives by Erin Malone Turner
October 29-November 22, 2026

Performance Schedule:
Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Call Time: 6:15 PM
Sunday Matinees Call time: 12:30 PM

$50 a night for every performance you work. Work all of them and make over $1200!

Shifts last between 3 and 4 hours and you set the days you work. Schedule is set weekly based on your availability and staffing needs.

TABC certification required if hired. Salesforce or other CRM experience a huge plus! Mostly though, we are looking for friendly, customer-oriented folks who want to help make Undermain a great place for our patrons to see an amazing show.

Major Perk: See the shows yourself as often as you like for free plus comps to share with friends and family!

Option to return in Spring 2027 for the remainder of our 2026-2027 season. All of our house staff from the last season are returning. We just need a few new faces.

Meet the Playwrights
Our upcoming 2026-2027 Season features a mix of new works and underperformed classics from a variety of playwrights both new and old.



We start the season next month with Wallace Shawn’s acerbic, dystopian take on art and consumerism under authoritarianism, Evening at the Talk House. You are probably well aware of Wallace Shawn from the over 150 film and television roles he has performed over the last 5 decades, most notably The Princess Bride, My Dinner with Andre (which he co-wrote) and his voice work in the Toy Story franchise. He has also been a playwright since the 70’s—Undermain produced his one man show The Fever in the mid-90’s. Evening at the Talk House first premiered in London at the National Theatre in 2015 and was produced in 2017 by The New Group in New York.

Erin Malone Turner is a Dallas-based writer and educator. We first worked with Erin and her play Spaced Out during our 2022 Whither Goest Thou America: Festival of New American Plays. Her beautiful and poetic play for the rest of our lives was workshopped during her artist-in-residence at Arts Mission Oak Cliff in 2025. Erin has also had works produced by Bishop Arts Theatre Center, Amphibian Stage and Kitchen Dog Theater.

VEAL by new playwright Jojo Jones premiered in 2025 at Red Orchid Theatre in Chicago where it was met with sold-out houses and critical acclaim. She has worked a number of theatres including The Jungle, A Red Orchid Theatre, The Tank, the Brooklyn Center for Theatre Research, and more.

Our season closes with Tennessee Williams’ late-period piece, The Two-Character Play (Out Cry). Undermain produced his play Camino Real in 1996 and of course everyone is familiar with his classic plays The Glass Menagerie, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and A Streetcar Named Desire (Stella!). The Two-Character Play (Out Cry) is a more autobiographical profile and experimental than his previous works and was described by the playwright as one of his favorites. It has since become regarded as an important part of his legacy and has found acclaim with contemporary productions including at New World Stages starring A
