It’s official y’all 🥹🙏🏾✨
I’m presenting at ArtBoost Dallas!
This feels extra special because I attended ArtBoost when it launched in 2023, and last year I spoke as a panelist.
Now, I’m stepping into the conference as a speaker.
Talk about full-circle moment. 🥹
I’ll be leading a workshop titled “The Squeakiest Wheel (Gets Oiled First)” where we’ll talk all about visibility, confidence, self-advocacy, and creating opportunities for yourself as a creative.
TBH…I’ve always had quite the opposite of imposter syndrome 😆
I’m always thinking, WHY NOT ME if this is what I want? I don’t care if I’m “underqualified” or not. I’m going to insert myself into what I want, give it my best, and figure it out along the way!
What happens when you actually believe you belong in the room? When you stop waiting to be chosen and start advocating for yourself? When you use every outlet available to you, both online and in-person, to make yourself known and ask for what you want?
Imani Black Studios evolving into a physical space in Deep Ellum didn’t happen overnight. It came from years of showing up, making connections, putting myself out there, asking for opportunities, creating opportunities, and being willing to bet on myself!
I’ve learned that being the squeakiest wheel isn’t about being the LOUDEST person in the room.
It’s about being willing to speak up, ask, advocate, follow through, and keep showing up.
I’m excited to share some of the lessons I’ve learned from building my career, creating my own opportunities, and learning to confidently ask for the things I want.
