Nothing brings me greater joy than having my seniors up on my fridge! Yup, all those pictures are mine. Can’t take credit for any of these cuties, tho. Their parents can claim all that glory.

You can’t go by store decorations anymore, they throw Santa hats up there in August now. But it’s now November. So I have O Crap It’s Christmas mini sessions on the schedule. Enough time for the procrastinators to get pictures for cards. Whether or not they get in the mail is out of my hands (no judgement).

So how do you find a photographer? I guess the better question is what did we do before the internet? Here are a few resources I could think of. Comment on how you find yours. Or go take the quiz in my stories. ⁠

This month we are talking about how to find the right photographer for you. ⁠
⁠
The reason I didn’t start my relaunch with this is because it is essential that you understand WHY you get photos taken before you start your search. ⁠
⁠
If you are hoping to get someone great to preserve as many memories as possible, you’re going to look not just at portfolios, but making sure you can afford a few different sessions with them. Or maybe you want a variety of styles, so you will spend a lot of time looking for photographers and you decide it’s easiest to just look in the same price range so you can maintain a consistent budget. ⁠
⁠
If you know you’re only hiring for specific events, then you’ll want to look for a photographer who specializes in that (i.e. weddings, newborns, etc.)⁠
⁠
If all your motivation comes from outside sources, you’ll probably want to find a local photographer so the process can be fast and easy for you. ⁠
⁠
If you don’t take family pictures often, you might want to find someone who’s pictures make you swoon and be willing to spend a little more. ⁠
⁠
Your WHY makes all the difference. ⁠
