This October at The Janette Kennedy Gallery, J. Blake Harris presents "new paintings about technology and design". The exhibition explores our relationship with technology and design before everything was reduced to the dull, ubiquitous slabs of glass that now dictate our lives.
Based on vintage hand-illustrated ad campaigns, toy packaging from Japan, and other printed materials from midcentury America, this work presents a collage of imagery that invites the viewer to consider what defined good design – both graphic and industrial – before the internet and technology became the center of our daily routines, and design evolved to the computer-generated minimalism it is today.
