The Just Kidding ensemble creates a completely improvised children's story based on the input and suggestions of its young audience complete with improvised songs, hand-crafted props, and costume pieces. With over 50 years of experience doing improvisational comedy, the Just Kidding Players perform and teach workshops at private parties and events, schools, camps, and theaters in the DFW area.
Just Kidding is the “baby” of two Dallas-area Moms, Lindsay Goldapp and Amy Rosellini, who also happen to have a combined 30 years experience learning, performing, and teaching Improvisational Comedy. They have trained with and performed alongside some of the best comedians and improvisers in the world; and in addition to having had countless giggle fits and belly laughs, they have also seen the benefits of improvisation in their own lives and in the lives of those they have trained and performed with. In 2014 Amy and Lindsay gathered the most talented, creative, and silly improvisers in the metroplex so they could bring the magic of improv to the children of Dallas/Fort Worth. They were inspired by Chicago-based children’s shows Storytown and The Greatest Story Never Told and Atlanta-based Shenanigans Improv, which uses the art of improvisation to address the social challenges of children with Asperger’s and Autism spectrum disorders. There are invaluable lessons learned when you organically create a world, characters, and dialogue alongside a scene partner. Improvisation reinforces the fundamental skills of listening, communication, and collaboration. It helps you be creative, social, and emotionally tuned in with others. Just Kidding isn't just a show- it's a creative experience that all of your guests can take part in. With the help of your guests and/or the "guest of honor" we will create an original children's story at your party or special occasion. The guests will create the world in which our story takes space and endow us with props and costume pieces that we will use to develop our story. We will also ask willing guests to join us on stage and become part of the story! Just Kidding also offers workshops and has created a curriculum especially for young people based on what we've learned at Second City, iO, Upright Citizen's Brigade, and more. We tailor our workshops for your group based on the comfort, age range, and experience of your children and/or students. Our improvisational work reinforces the tenants of collaboration, listening, imagination, and communication, and these lessons that can be easily incorporated into classroom curriculum and daily studies.
