🌱 Illustration Spotlight: James Nelson x Texas Medical Association

James Nelson created the cover for the March/April “Mission Driven / The Education Issue,” designing a single illustration that could also provide spot art for interior articles. The challenge was weaving together multiple topics while keeping it fun, colorful, and cohesive.

Inspired by rural Texas, spring blooms, and “homegrown” elements in universities and medical schools, James illustrated a tree of books with a student on a ladder, research lab elements in a field, and even a Texas water tower. The clients loved how all the topics came together in one vibrant, playful visual story, combining James’s editorial experience with his current style.
