Another blast from the past….These can be found in most rooms upstairs in our old building. Hint: people used to live in small apartments here, after it was a hotel. Most rooms had a pay phone and this was next to the phone. Can you guess what it was for?

This was patented in 1891 and has been inside a wall at 201 W. Mulberry since 1899. Can you guess what it was for?

We are always interested in where the steel we use comes from. Turns out the big I beams that hold up our building came from three different steel mills. Carnegie and Cambria were in Pennsylvania and another from Illinois.
Imagine back in 1899, the train rolls into Kaufman with these huge I beams, they are then transferred to a dray wagon pulled by a 4 to 8 team of horses or mules. Those strong animals then hauled the steel a few blocks down a dirt road to the building site. That was quite a journey!
