This is a public page for the DFW area's Free Play Pinball League, to conform with IFPA standards regarding open visible websites. This is used to post notifications regarding upcoming Pinball Leagues and Tournaments operating at Free Play locations. This page is NOT owned / managed by Free Play, but is run by the kind folks who run the Pinball Leagues which play there.

🚨 NEW LEAGUE DAY IS WEDNESDAY NIGHT 🚨

Free Play Pinball League - Season 16 at Richardson

A six week pinball league, with top 8 making finals.

Each week you will be placed in groups of 4 (or 3), and assigned 4 games to play. You receive points based upon order of finish, with your best 4 out of 6 weeks counting in the standings. (So you can miss 2 weeks with no consequences.)

No registration, just show up before 7:30 and check in with Colin or Spencer.

Can't make week 1? or 2? New players may join in through week 4!

Finals are on March 26th for top 8.

No league matches on March 19th.

Season 15 is official

Running as 2 distinct leagues.

Starting 9/24,25,26....

East league - Richardson on Tuesdays at 730 pm

West League - Can play at Arlington on Wed, or Denton Thurs. 730 start. In West league players play at one location each week as part of league (can switch and play between locations as part of same league).

Each week you will be placed in groups of 4 (or 3), and assigned 4 games. Receive points (5,3,2,1) based on order of finish. Best 4 out of 6 weeks count towards standings.

Top 8 will qualify for finals in each league.

West League will also have finals for next 8

No league at any location on Halloween week.

No registration, show up! New players may join through week 4!

Each week will be 2 rounds of 3 games.

Finals on July 30th.

The Spring Season 13 for the Free Play Pinball League will play as two distinct leagues
West League (Denton and Arlington) and East League (Richardson).

The West League will play at Denton and Arlington on Thursday's. Players can play at either Free Play location each week as part of the West League (e.g. playing one week at Arlington and another week at Denton is fine).

East League plays at Richardson on Tuesday's.

6 weeks of group match play, playing 4 games each week (game selection balanced), balanced pairing across the series, rotating order. Weekly Scoring is (5,3,2,1) your best 4 out of 6 weeks counts in standings with the West League finals to be held on 5/16/2024 at Free Play Arlington; Richards finals on 5/14/2024. Both finals will be for roughly top 1/4 to top 1/2.

Ties in standings if needed are broken with a 1 game tie breaker. ties in other positions will be reported as such.

Finals will be group matchplay elimination for top 1/4 to 1/2 . Each round of finals will be 3 games using PAPA (4/2/1/0) scoring (top 2 from group advance). Top seed in each round will have selection of bank or position (game 1), subsequent games loser has selection of position.

In finals, tie breaker will have game assigned. With higher original seed having position choice.

Replacement games in banks can be made via match of similar (new vs older) or via random.

The first week of League Play will be 04/02/2024 and 04/04/2024

West and East are 2 distinct leagues. You can play in both leagues if you desire (obviously play / points do not cross over between West and East).
Each league is limited to 49 participants, which I don't anticipate being an issue...
New players can join up through week 4.

The Winter Season 12 for the Free Play Pinball League will play as two distinct leagues
West League (Denton and Arlington) and East League (Richardson).

The West League will play at Denton and Arlington on Thursday's. Players can play at either Free Play location each week as part of the West League (e.g. playing one week at Arlington and another week at Denton is fine).

East League plays at Richardson on Tuesday's.

6 weeks of group match play, playing 4 games each week (game selection balanced), balanced pairing across the series, rotating order. Weekly Scoring is (5,3,2,1) your best 4 out of 6 weeks counts in standings with the West League finals to be held on 3/7/2024 at Free Play Denton; Richards finals on 3/5/2024. Both finals will be for top 12 (or fewer if less than 24 participants).

Ties in standings will be broken by highest weekly scores, if same 4 weekly scores, then there will be a playoff (only for top 12/playoff seedings), ties in other positions will be reported as such.

Finals will be group matchplay elimination for top 12 (or lower if fewer than 24 participants), top 4 seeds will receive a bye. Each round of finals will be 3 games using PAPA (4/2/1/0) scoring (top 2 from group advance). Top seed in each round will have selection of bank or position (game 1), subsequent games loser has selection of position.

The first week of League Play will be 01/16/2024 and 1/18/2024

The Free Play Pinball League presents
the end of year Arlington Amazing Race....

This is a stand alone tournament, not a league event.

The tournament will start at 7:30 pm and will consist of 10 games in a max matchplay qualifiying, (2 player games). Games and opponents will be balanced. Choice of position is rotating.

After the 10 games are played, the top 8 (or fewer if less than 16 total participants) will participate in a 7 game Amazing Race finale where the lowest score on each of the 7 games is eliminated until we have the winner of the amazing race.

In the event of a tie for the 8th position there will be a playoff game...
