Liberace, born Wladziu Valentino Liberace on May 16, 1919, in West Allis, Wisconsin, was an American pianist and entertainer known for his flamboyant lifestyle and charismatic stage presence.
Liberace's prodigious musical talent was evident from a young age, and he was performing concerts by age seven. He studied at the Wisconsin College of Music and developed a style that blended classical music with pop, which eventually became his hallmark in performances.
Liberace's career took off in the 1950s when he began appearing on television, where his extravagant costumes, candelabra-adorned pianos, and charming demeanor made him a household name.
He skillfully used television to enhance his popularity, connecting with audiences through direct, conversational performances that made viewers feel as if he were performing just for them.
Despite his opulent image, Liberace's music appealed to a broad audience, making him one of the highest-paid entertainers in the world during his heyday. Liberace remained a popular figure until his death on February 4, 1987.

Many works by the successful and prolific British suspense novelist, Agatha Christie, have been brought to the big screen with greater or lesser capacity, but never in such a fortunate way as in Witness for the Prosecution, demonstrating that Billy Wilder was a master at tackling any type of film genre. Staged admirably, its story of criminal-judicial intrigue is told with a wise interspersion of flashbacks, a precise rhythm that never allows the interest of the plot to wane, and an excellent script with lively, brilliant dialogues...

Charles Laughton, an actor with a reputation for being troublesome, threw himself into his role; cunning, tenacious, veteran, acidic, exhausted, angry and intelligent Wilfrid Roberts, โ€œthe best lawyer in London.โ€ In his memoirs, Wilder speaks of Laughton as โ€œthe actor with the greatest range, professionalism and power he has ever known.โ€ For her part, Marlene Dietrich, sensual, cold and desperately in love; She was convinced that she was going to be nominated for an Oscar for her role as Christine. Unfairly, she would not receive that well-deserved nomination. And a great Tyrone Power, meticulous, charming and phony. At the time of its premiere, audience members were given cards that said โ€œI solemnly swear never to reveal the ending of Witness for the Prosecution,โ€ and that each one must sign. Furthermore, the ending was not revealed to the actors until the last day of filming...

Alfred Hitchcock once confessed that many people approached him to congratulate him on this film, believing that he had directed it and not Wilder. This adaptation, which along with "Murder On The Orient Express" from 1974, were the only ones that its author liked, is an exciting, highly entertaining film, full of black humor and superb performances, which makes it one of the best courtroom dramas of all time. An essential masterpiece...
