Welcome to my new site and endeavor...to better understand the goals, please read the post below!
It is hard to believe, but I have been in the marching band drill writing activity off and on since college (pencil & paper, Advantage Show-ware on a Mac and Pyware…) yes I’m that old. Most recently, I have done some rewrites when things didn’t go according to plan either numerically or aesthetically speaking—both for my own group or others’, when the original designer had no time to devote to correcting the issues over the years. Historically, I have done several small school groups that perhaps didn’t have the funding for a big name designer, including some of my own groups back in the day. As most of you know, I am a full time Fine Arts Director now, but am always looking for ways to stay connected to the profession and be of service to music educators after my day job(which this time of year can be nights as well lol)…which is the reason for this post.
I will have some availability for this type of writing now, through the summer and into the fall in terms of competitive/non competitive shows (especially if budget is a concern or low) or rewrites when something doesn’t go to plan(full rewrite or individual movement) on any level if your original designer lacks time to adjust. I have been in the spot of spending three thousand to five thousand and up on a show with not much money left to rewrite, if any
…it is a bad place to be especially mid season. If it will help you and your students, please reach out.
Let me also mention this is NOT intended or designed to be a “side gig” for me at all. I am NOT just looking for as many as I can get…this is something that I am personally very passionate about and have always wanted to do after the classroom AND in the interest of serving the profession and helping kids. Having been in situations where resources are low and/or designers do not deliver what they say they will deliver, I always felt like if I had someone that could correct things while I focused on teaching, that it would be of tremendous value(I also want to give a nod to my good friend Mike Ellis in this scenario…having worked with him numerous times as a designer, he is great not only with design and adhering to needs and parameters, but also does adjustments if needed). I am available to assist if anyone is in need of this type of service. If you are all set, that is great too as I do NOT want to take any other designer’s business!
Feel free to message or email with questions or to see samples of work OR share with someone who may be in need. If you end up in need later, keep this in mind! My only limitations are of course conflict of interest scenarios if I am an adjudicator at a UIL Region or Area contest for your group…Definitely would need to pass in that instance.
