Spotlighting: Westlake Brewing Company

Why we love it: Locally brewed beer, a welcoming taproom, and one of Deep Ellum’s favorite brewery stops 🍻

Westlake Brewing Company is a production brewery with a taproom in the heart of Deep Ellum, making it a perfect stop while exploring Dallas’ vibrant entertainment district.

Known for its rotating selection of fresh, small-batch brews, Westlake offers something for every beer lover from crisp lagers and hop-forward IPAs to rich stouts and seasonal releases. The spacious taproom provides a relaxed atmosphere where visitors can gather with friends, catch live events, and enjoy a pint straight from the source.

Rooted in Deep Ellum’s creative and community-driven spirit, Westlake Brewing Company has become a neighborhood favorite for locals and visitors alike. Whether you're a craft beer enthusiast or simply looking for a laid-back place to unwind, Westlake is worth adding to your Deep Ellum bucket list.

Neighborhood Energy ⚡

Panoptikon has spent 20 years shaping Dallas’ goth and alternative nightlife 🖤 From Club One to Sons of Hermann Hall, the party created by DJ Lord Byron has become more than a dance night it’s a community built on music, self-expression, and belonging.

Blending industrial, darkwave, goth, and classic alternative sounds, Panoptikon brings generations of “weirdos” together every Friday in Deep Ellum. With latex-clad dancers, underground energy, and a judgment-free vibe, it’s evolved with Dallas nightlife while staying rooted in the neighborhood’s creative spirit. Now celebrating 20 years, Panoptikon remains a Deep Ellum staple proof the goth scene is still alive, loud, and welcoming to all creatures of the night .

Neighborhood Energy ⚡

Deep Ellum has always fostered live music and creative expression, though its earlier scene differed from today’s entertainment district. In the late ’80s and early ’90s,the neighborhood helped shape Tripping Daisy’s early years and creative identity. Before the final Dallas stop of the I Am An Elastic Firecracker anniversary tour, Tim DeLaughter reflects on Deep Ellum. Supporting local shows and creative spaces keeps that energy alive.

Recently featured in The Dallas Morning News’ guide to Deep Ellum, Pepe & Mito’s has been serving the neighborhood since 1994 with family recipes and classic Mex-Tex dishes that helped shape the area’s longtime food scene.

Why people love it: The steak fajitas are a standout simple, flavorful, and cooked right. Tender steak with grilled onions, seasoned to perfection. Honest comfort food that keeps regulars and first-timers coming back.Their frozen margaritas are also a neighborhood favorite and pair perfectly with the sizzling plates coming out of the kitchen. Your weekend coffee run just turned into brunch plans ☕️ Le Bon Temps is serving up iced house-made lemonade, peach hibiscus tea, and smooth cold brew to start the day right.

And of course brunch is the move. Made-to-order beignets dusted in powdered sugar, berry-topped bites, and those puffs of golden goodness perfectly light, fluffy, and fresh out the fryer, whether you go classic or something a little more creative.

Grab a drink, grab something sweet, then wander a little: storefronts, street art, and slow weekend energy all just steps away !!🛍️

Spotlighting: Terry Black's Barbecue 🥩

Imagine sinking your teeth into some of the best barbecue in the neighborhood. If you’re on the hunt for standout Texas BBQ served alongside one of the best patios in town just ask The Dallas Morning News you’re in for a treat.

Why we love it: Terry Black’s is a Deep Ellum staple known for massive smokers, standout brisket, and one of the most relaxed open-air patio setups in the city.

The beautiful weather makes this the perfect time to dine al fresco before the summer heat takes over. Grab your tray, settle into the spacious patio or upstairs beer garden, and devour those glorious dino ribs, tuck into some tender turkey, and savor every bite of that smoky brisket. Don’t skip the classics either mac & cheese, creamed corn, green beans, banana pudding, and peach cobbler are all part of the experience.

It’s also dog-friendly, making it an easy win for casual hangs, group meetups, or slow weekend afternoons with your pup in tow.
