I made my first piece of stained glass art in 2012, my senior year of high school, after I transferred from my Georgia high school to the one I graduated from in Illinois. I was given the option of a few different paths to take in my art class and decided to be one of very few to take on the challenge of stained glass and I can't even explain how it felt to find something I was so passionate about.
I love all types of art, though I am not very talented in many at all, and I found a natural rhythm in the creation of stained glass art. It was like a switch was flipped in my brain and I fell in love with the entire process.
I made two pieces that year, this one [The Lady with the Lute] being the easy favorite and it found a home with my father who to this day is a huge supporter of my work. I know, he's probably biased, but it has been such an easy road back into the art with his constant support [and of course that of my wonderful husband, now too].
It has taken over 10 years to finally have the space and the time to dip my feet back into making pieces. I have learned that there is still much for me to learn, and some things that are as easy to me as they were that year in school. I am blessed to be able to do what I love now, and to have so much support so early on.
I still make mistakes, that's part of the learning thing... But it means so much to me that I can share it with people that care to see what goes on around here.
I strive with every cut of glass to be better than I was before.
I hope that with each stage of my growth I will continue to make great art that will be well received. Maybe one day you'll see my work in the windows of a local church or business, or even in your or your friend's front window. I aim for both of those things in the future.
Thank you, for every little bit of support you give this little artist.
